Title: The Feline Felon

Batman text story from TV Tornado comic dated February 4, 1967.  Although the artwork depicts a comic-book style Catwoman, the story itself is more in the spirit of the TV show.

Hey Roo, this is really awesome!  This looks like something from the 1967 annual I made reference to on my site. Thank you for sharing this with us!

PS: Can I use these images on my site?  Thank you in advance!

Certainly you can.   Same with those screen-caps I put up - it's great if people can find a good use for these things.  :)

Nice post sir!

I really like the deathtrap; it's very interesting.  The escape took some thought and I like how it was accomplished in two steps instead of using a single gadget to get them out.

The TV Catwoman had better names for her henchmen in my opinion.

Thank you Roo! Great little story. I loved the trap Catwoman placed them in too. Very imaginative. Thank so much for sharing that with us.

As Catwoman would have remarked ( before the ending of the story ) " Simply Purrrrfect " Roo.  I have meant before now to thank you for your wonderful photos ( screen caps ? ) that you share with us.    8-)

That is awesome stuff, Roo!

Do you have any idea how many of these illustrated stories were done?  Did they continue after the demise of the series or did they all resemble the show?  Did these come out monthly?  Weekly?  Were they sandwiched in between comic book stories?  Was TV Tornado a long-running comic?

I'm just asking in case you know off the top of your head - not trying to create more work for you!

These are a lot of fun.  Also, it's nice to see the TV Alfred in comic book form.

TV Tornado was a weekly comic and it lasted for about two years before merging with another publication.  Each issue was a mixture of text stories and comic strips. The Batman text stories only appeared in the early 1967 issues but later on in the comic's run there was a two page comic strip based around the adventures of the Green Hornet (I've already posted an example of that strip on the GH section of this board).  No advertising intended, but for anyone who is interested, TV Tornado comics and annuals (hard cover books traditionally published in time for Christmas) regularly appear on the U.K. eBay site.

As I 'm a late forty-something UK subject  I recognize most of the characters in the picture, but who is the character in the upper right quadrant  wearing the 'Indiana Jones' fedora?

Why that's Little Joe Cartwright, as played by a young Michael Landon in Bonanza.   :)

Voyage had a two page comic strip in TV Tornado, and a couple of years later Land of the Giants likewise had a 2 page strip in TV21.  Sadly my favourite Irwin Allen production The Time Tunnel never appeared in any UK comics.

Do you think the mods might be so kind as to turn a blind eye if I post the Voyage strip for you?  Here goes...

I cannot speak for the moderators.

But I thank you very much for posting this!  Your publications in the UK are fantastic!  And I speak from experience, since I lived there in early 1982, when I was attending school there.

Oh, and David Hedison had his contact with British entertainment: He played Felix Leiter in two James Bond films, and he also guested on The Saint with Canadian actress Suzanne Lloyd in January 1964!

Maybe its just me, but I swear the skull in the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea comic has a Nazi look about him.

In the Catwoman story, why don't the Dynamic Duo just jump into the vats of oil as soon as Catwoman leaves?  She tells them the oil in the vats is "warm" (which is why she had her minion turn on the burners).  Presumably they would not be injured jumping into the vats.

Incidentally,  first para,  '... in her hand was a long, jewelled cigarette-holder'.
I don't recall ever reading of the Princess of Plunder smoking before.  Holy bad example, Batman!

I just want to mention that it's great to see a comic book version of the Alan Napier Alfred.  VERY cool.
