Looks like you found your yellow just fine!

There are no patterns...regrettfully.
The amazing thing is that he hasn't made these from a single pattern or copying directly off of an existing costume in front of him but rather observations, trial and error.  I've provided him with plenty of pictures, close-ups and screen captures of Yvonne and plenty of phone conversations where we have compared notes and ideas ( so how long do those darts look to you?).  Some try to say there are "secrets" to these suits, but there isn't anything mystical about them when you use your eyes and brain.  The fact is the toughest part was finding a way to dye the stretch lame purple.  When I was trying to work with Ken Davis back in the day on creating a suit for Vickie, he finally resorted to boiling a swatch and it took the dye color(at least a little).  Vickie I tried to run with it later on in dying her suit and I shared much of my trial and errors with Greg.  He really came up with his own formula that worked.  I remember coming across the stretch lame in black (for Catwoman, but the same stuff) after Ken had told me that he had heard it was discontinued.  Ken and I searched high and low for it in purple with Ken eventually looking to possible alternatives.  Ken even went as far to thinking that the black material wasn't what they used on the show either.  I stuck hard to my convictions about this stuff after seeing some ultra close up pictures of Yvonne in the suit and eventually seeing a real Eartha Kitt suit in person at an auction.  The Batgirl picture even revealed to me the grain in which way the material needed to be put together to stretch properly across the body since it only stretched two ways unlike spandex.  I remember many hours just talking to about which way it would stretch with Ken.  He came up with his own way, but I think Greg really achieved the look of the original by sticking with the photo references and seeing it play out on his mannequin.  Greg really has a true gift and incredible luck.  Remember that stretch lame that was so hard to find?  Greg found it no problem on his own in less than a few days.  ONLINE!!!  He stiil needed to dye it, but he has been far and away the most successful at consistently getting the right color.  My head is still spinning on how he got that cowl together. We discussed proportions and angles that each of the prior cowls (Brett's, Ken's and the one Billy and I made) which had problems but he just put it together on his own.  There are no "secrets" about these suits and if you have a good eye and just plain put your back into it, you can come up with some incredible stuff... at least if you're Greg.

well with that being said, gosh Scott! thanks for the kind words!
WOW

NONE of this would have ever worked in my favor without my bat guardian angel, Scott, always there with the BEST constructive criticism and tidbits of knowledge from the depths of the bat universe!

So a sincere thank you to him! any compliment to me go to him as well!

I get so worked up in things sometimes, its easy to forget all the helpful people on this VERY board!

Scott, and Chuck for his great suggestions, Stevie, whose costume will blow mine away when done, for his help, Dan B for my batgirl logo (yet to come, ill post when it arrives) yvonne herself,  and ken too for his help from the beginning.

But again Scott, needless to say, shes as much your creation as she is mine!

Well, then, to ALL of you involved...

  FANTASTIC JOB!!!

  Jan Kemp would be proud!!!

It's GREAT to see the TRUE camaraderie on this board!  It's MUCH better than the "Flame Wars" that often rise up on other Bat Boards!  I attribute alot of that to Scott and Lee!...

...and Greg, don't be so modest!  Many can say what to do and how to do it, but ACTUALLY DOING IT is what REALLY counts!

WOW!!!

I just joined this board due to this excellent batgirl costume.

Let me introduce myself Im a soldiers at FT Bragg(82nd ABN) and have been a fan of Batgirl for years.

My wife has a batgirl costume  started, but I cannot for the life of my figure out how to make the cowl.

I am just curious if you could make me one or know where I could buy one.

I found one guy, but he wanted $150 to make one, and I may be wrong but it seemed a little expensive.

Thanks

Welcome to the Board!

Having made the Batman cowls before, I can tell you that the Batgirl cowls are also very labor-intensive.

If you can find one for $150, pick it up fast! That's a great price considering how much work goes into them.

I was mistaken on the price,

After checking the old email it was $350.

Great job on the costume.
