Stafford Repp (our beloved Gotham Police Chief) did an episode of M*A*S*H.

This was his final appearance ever.  He filmed this in 1974, before his death, and it was aired in early 1975.

Coincidentally, I saw Stafford Repp last Friday on an episode of I Dream of Jeannie as a plainclothes officer in the episode "Never Put A Genie on A Budget," which originally aired in 1969. As I noted elsewhere on the board, he also appears in an episode of The Lucy Show, which has an official release on DVD this week.

I don't recall ever seeing him on the show.  What did Mr. Repp do on the episode of M*A*S*H?  What was the epidoe about?

The episode was called White Gold and it was the next-to-last one with McLean Stevenson before his ill-fated career move.

Here's the imdb listing:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0638476/

I've seen it several times. Col. Flagg is trying to find and arrest soldiers dealing in penicillin on the black market, but as it turns out the soldier he's after is really a medic merely trying to supply his own unit, and not turn a profit. Flagg lets him go and then lies, claiming the soldier beat him up and escaped.
Repp plays the MP who eventually arrests the medic and brings him back to the 4077th, but Col. Blake doesn't press charges. Repp has only a couple of lines, but I remember seeing him when the show was in syndication and waiting for him to throw in a 'Begorrah!'

BTW, it's too bad Edward Winter's acting career didn't begin until the 1970s. He could have been a very funny Bat-henchman.

If you don't mind, I blew that picture up alittle Smiley

A hint of an Irish accent is there when he asks, "Colonel Flagg, sir?"

I have the complete unedited episodes on dvd.
this is one of my favorites.

Stafford had a long career in TV, I was watching either Adam 12 or Dragnet and He played a Husband sick of his wife and sister arguing.

Wasn't he a regular on The Real McCoys?

Or maybe a Bat-Villain?  Two-Face comes to mind, and using a variant of Flagg's mannerisms, would be a cool villain!

He only made two appearances on The Real McCoys, but did appear 17 times on Phil Silvers' show in 1963-64.  Here is his IMDB page.

Just this week I spotted Chief O'Hara twice - once in Bonanza as a businessman and the other was in an episode of Perry Mason, he was a bartender.
