generic super hero series from maybe the 80's

Okay, somehow or other the vaguest recollection of what I think was a short-lived TV series but was maybe a movie that aired on cable or maybe even something else popped into my head this evening. I think it must have been from the late 80's (or, not) and it had a title like Action Man or something similarly generic/derivative and I recall a dark haired guy with generic red super hero type costume...tight body suit and maybe a cape...maybe a short one.

Live action.

Anyone?

Otherwise very interesting. I'm more convinced that it was a short-lived series and that the name was Action Man and am now thinking it was more late 90's. But I still can't pinpoint it any better than that.

He was in a comedy series over here called My Hero starring Ardal O'Hanlon as a superhero. It was a lot more recent than the 80s though so maybe not.
