Rogan will be fine. Trust me.

No offense, but I don't trust you on this one.

We will have to see how this will turn out, but there is no evidence to suggest that Rogen can pull off a leading man role in a serious crime Drama. He simply does not have the experience, the looks, the voice or the talent! He has carved a niche for himself playing stoned out slackers in comedies. Apparently he is very good at this type of role. Perhaps he is too good at it. It seems to be a case of natural type casting.

I wish people would stop trying to use the example of Michael Keaton in Batman. It is a really weak comparison. For one thing MR Keaton was a well trained actor that had done serious roles before Batman. Sure he was best known for comedies, but the talent was there he just needed the right properties to be given the chance to show it.
The other thing is that really didn't really fit the role of Batman. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Tim Burton Batman movies, but lets be honest and accept that Michael Keaton wasn't really physical enough to look like a Super hero. I it wasn't for some good camera work and heavily sculpted Batsuit, he would have looked preposterous as Batman. I did enjoy the kind of quirky character he brought to Bruce Wayne, but even then he was on the borderline of being too comic to be taken seriously. He worked because of the style and vision that Tim Burton brought to the movie. Tim Burton created a world where Keaton's Batman was believable. I don't think any one would believe that Michael Keaton would have fit in as well in say, Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins!
Now that being said, perhaps, just perhaps, Michel Gondry will create a world where a Seth Rogan character can indeed be somewhat believable as Britt Reid/ The Green Hornet. If he can then he is a far better director than I have seen so far, and I doubt that his vision will look like anything the Green Hornet fans would recognize. Still I will admit that it is possible.
I am still hoping against hope, that this will indeed turn out all right. But I have no illusions that Seth Rogan is anywhere near the right choice to play this role. Now if you have a role for a bumbling stoned slacker, then Rogan is definitely your man!
