Re: POLL: Does The Siren have a superpower?

I remember a singer named Minnie Ripperton in the '70s She had a four octave ed range and when she hit high notes I thought glass was going to shatter. I think a seven octave range is super normal and represents some sort of X Men like mutation. Two good points. The late Riperton was the mother of ...

POLL: Does The Siren have a superpower?

I've been meaning to throw this question out there for awhile, and it occurred to me again after recently seeing Joan Collins in American Horror Story, in which she played an actress who secretly was a witch. Unfortunately, there were no shoutouts to The Siren, as her power was 'merely' the ability ...

Re: Behind the scenes footage on ebay!!!

For example, there is a scene of Commissioner Gordon passed out in Bruce Wayne’s study with Bruce, Dick and Alfred that is filmed from the right backside. I don’t remember this. Ring any bells? If it is from an episode, does my description align with the camera angle? Well, this clearly is from 'Wa...

Re: Behind the scenes footage on ebay!!!

I think the reason none of this was included on the release, and this is only a guess, but an educated one, is this: https://www.wired.com/2014/11/batman-home-video-finally/ Deep into this story about the longtime legal morass that surrounded the potential release of the show, and the contributions ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #096: As the “Ffogg” clears, we ask “Where's the Beef?”

Young brothers, your three-part Londinium podcast certainly surpassed the actual episodes in terms of entertainment value. Admittedly, that was not a high bar to vault over, but you cleared it with much room to spare. Some observations about your observations: The idea of Batman (reluctantly) and Ro...

Re: Batman with Tammy Grimes?!!!

Interestingly Tammy Grimes was the first choice for Samantha on Bewitched Correct. According to numerous reports, the character was named 'Cassandra' at that time, not Samantha. Also, many of those same sources say Dozier had a hand in coming up with the original concept of the show. Personally, I ...

Re: Batman with Tammy Grimes?!!!

In a 1967 interview, executive producer William Dozier called the series an "organized disaster". He added, "It was the wrong idea for the wrong person at the wrong time. Movies were not for Mary Martin; television was not for Tammy Grimes."[ Here's a story with those quotes: https://www.tvobscurit...

Re: Batman with Tammy Grimes?!!!

Yes. that is Tammy Grimes. Good catch. And, no, a cameo probably wouldn't have helped because the show came and went in the blink of an eye. It was cancelled after only four episodes, which isn't unusual now but was in 1966. Usually shows would run a minimum of 13 weeks before being whacked because ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #095: Mego Action Figures Emerge from the Fog

"Twelve O'Clock High" was also where Lyn would have met her future husband, Paul Burke, who took over as the star of that show after Robert Lansing was fired by executive producer Quinn Martin. Burke had also previously been the star of "Naked City" earlier in the decade. Lyn also had a close perso...

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

Thanks, Tim, for the correction.

As soon as I saw the ending with all the horseplay, so to speak, and the earlier stuntwork on the roof, I knew none of it would fly, of course. And immediately there's the annotation, 'write out chase and tag.'

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #095: Mego Action Figures Emerge from the Fog

I actually had a Lord Ffogg Mego. The box said 'you can make him into any of eight different pompous, non-threatening poses.' Seriously, I never had action figures--I had Colorforms, but that was about it--but your enthusiasm and reminiscences made for a fun listen. As for the Londinium portion of t...

Re: It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown soundtrack available

Well played! Thanks! I love Guaraldi's scores but that part of the show freaked me out as a kid, Charlie Brown getting rocks apparently from adults. It was a bit sociopathic for my tastes that random people would gang up on the kid. No way that would pass muster today, but Schulz had clout to get H...
