Re: Courtroom scenes and other bat-law questions

I think these are the same folks that did a seminar about the legal ramifications of kaiju and the differing liabilities resulting from their actions and such (like Carl Denham's liability for bringing King Kong to New York, or if insurance policies would cover damage from kaiju attacks). An excelle...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs

One of my favorite episodes, mostly due to Nobu Atsumi's scientist character Lotus. I'm kind of surprised she merited little more than a name drop in the podcast; she's one of the few molls (if she was indeed a moll and not a partner) that actually was integral to the main baddie's plan and not just...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #105: Fifty Ways to Wreck the Joker

Water does indeed begin to expand at lower temperatures, at about 4 C, and when it freezes at 0 C expands significantly. One of the few forms of matter exhibiting this behavior. Short reason, because water is a network-forming matter and the bonds between its hydrogen atoms become more pronounced at...

Re: Can anybody identify this switch?

Gotham City Science is a lot like Toho Science (and science in most pop culture ;) ). Yes indeed. I've sometimes wondered what an actual 12,000 dB pulse would be like . If it were possible, it'd certainly do much more than flush out Bookworm and his twisty goons. :) It would probably destroy the un...

Re: Can anybody identify this switch?

Still quite a jolt, since an electric chair generates about 2000 volts. Since spiders use electricity to fly, maybe those giant spiders just needed a really big dose to kill them. Gotham City Science is a lot like Toho Science (and science in most pop culture ;) ).

Messrs Tim and Paul, if you want to know what the two words Catwoman spoke that you could not make out, they would likely show up on the subtitles. I always watch with the subtitles on since my English comprehension is not always the best. I would listen for you but my BR's are back in the US.

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

Mr. Tim (bat-rss), I think it likely that they were referencing the character of Bo Peep from the 1934 Laurel and Hardy comedy, Babes in Toyland, even though it was not a silent film. Featuring Laurel and Hardy would have matched up with the opening Chaplin scene had they wished to go the re-enactme...

Re: Joker Movie Reveal

Looks scary, creepy and cool! Although it looks like they are doing an origin story and the Joker is one of the few characters better off without one.

Godzilla Visits The Batcave

Looks like Godzilla has entered the Batcave as he calls the military on the Batphone in the first Trendmasters toy commercial in this video. Must have been looking to absorb the radiation in the atomic pile :)

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #92: BATMANIA pt 2: Is nothing impossible?

One thing that Tim and Paul should seek out is the Adventures of Jerry Lewis comic #97. It is contemporary to the TV show (November 1966) and might be the best pop-culture examination of the real-life Batmania that hit the US in 1966-in my opinion, way better than the Mad magazine parody (although t...

Re: BATMAN Made in '43 Discovered in '65!

I bought both the 1943 and 1949 serials in 1989 (along with the 1966 TV show) on 'unofficial' VHS when I went to my first San Diego Comic Con (because I was so excited for the 1989 movie!). When I got home despite the 10 hour flight I watched both serials immediately, the 1949 one first. it was OK b...

Re: Batman's upcoming marriage?

I think the Earth-2 marriage of Batman and Catwoman was one of the best Batman stories I have read (I think it was in Brave & Bold 197), even though I usually dislike the Catwoman character across all media. It was so natural. It will be interesting to see if the marriage actually comes off. I remem...

Re: "Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights"

Even now Mr. Ward is the master of hyperbole, based on the interviews he was giving for the new 1966 Batanimated movies. I remember reading that book when it first came out and it seemed he was trying very hard to upstage Adam West's book (which had come out about a year prior). And of course, Mr. W...

Re: Script: PLEASE OMIT TOMATOES (a.k.a. "Louie the Lilac")

Is "Please Omit Tomatoes pointing towards an acronym for pot (marijuana)? Given all the flower children in the actual episode it would not surprise me (I could not download the script to see if they were in the original).
