Re: RIP, Sid Haig.

Ah well, they do say memory's the second thing to go.

Can't recall what the first was.

Re: RIP, Sid Haig.

Holy myopia, that was Haig who tells Bond, "I got a brudder" in DAF! How did I never notice that before? I remember him best as Master of the Thralls in Star Trek's "Gamesters of Triskelion " episode, and the recurring, Ming-like villain on "Jason but f Star Command." Sorry to hear he's passed. One ...

Re: Looks Like Shazam! is Coming to Blu-Ray!

Looks like the art is by Jerry Ordway, who did the "Power of Shazam" comic years ago (still my favorite modern take on the character). This may be the same art as they used on the DVD set a while back, but that was a print-to-order thing from the Warner site, I believe. Fun show, but giving the BluR...

Re: BAT 77 - A Victim's Victim (Detective #394)

Dennis O'Neill was real bad for that back in the '70s. For every decent story he wrote he put out a truckload of stinkers in various DC titles trying to send 'messages'. I remember thinking back then (as I do now) that I don't want 'messages' in my entertainment. Indeed, as Roger Moore once said ab...

Re: When did you first see the show?

My family must have been the last in America to get a color TV; it didn't arrive in my life until 1978. I still remember that Christmas because the TV was such a surprise. After we opened everything else, my folks said, "I think there's one more present behind the tree." Mom and Dad had gone to the ...

Re: BAT 77 - A Victim's Victim (Detective #394)

I'm often struck by how often Bronze Age Batman nearly has his head handed to him by "mere mortal" combatants...not just "name" villains, but henchmen and street thugs. It's a far, far cry from the modern, invincible Batman who could take down a tag team of Godzilla and Galactus with one hand tied b...

Re: When did you first see the show?

. I also had the Super Heroes vs Super Gorillas which was released in September 1976, so it could have come first, but it may have still been on sale in October. Probably, since it was a special one-off issue that wouldn't have been replaced the next month by a #2. I remember that one. Batman's enc...

Re: When did you first see the show?

I was 9 months old when the show debuted and 3 when it left the air, so if I saw it in first run I missed it. I saw the film as an ABC movie one weekend in...maybe 1973 or 74...and it blew my mind. I loved George Reeves as Superman, but Batman had the budget -- and "name" villains -- to be just like...

Well, you have to admit: The Phantom really is "a master of disguise."

It'd be a display item for me anyway, so better if it doesn't roll.

Re: SDCC 2019 Batman '66 Stuff

At the 4-inch scale you don't need a lot of articulation, anyway. The old Star Wars figures didn't have much. If they do a One:12 of Adam, I'm definitely in trouble. Those things aren't cheap, but they're gorgeous. Just in honor of our hero, though, they should give it a special designation -- Adam:...

There's some nice close-ups at the Toy News International site. Check out images 70-76 in this slideshow:

Re: GeekiTiki Surf's Up Batman set now available

Pretty sure he's saying it's a cup AND a candy bar, available separately. The mug pictured obviously wouldn't fit in the box shown next to it. Or am I missing a gag? This is a different Batman mold from the one shown in the earlier preview, yes? I kind of like it. Having never seen a "tiki" product ...

Sadly, the character fails to catch on with audiences.

Most blame a miscalculation in casting.

Re: Batman and Robin Pin Mates

Hope the car has an autopilot feature 'cause Batman has no arms. But he and Robin can head-butt the villains, I guess? These things exist in a pretty strange niche: fun for toddlers, I guess, but how many of them will be going to a convention and buying something like this as an overpriced exclusive...
