Re: Fun photo for theatrical showing of the movie serial “Batman and Robin”
That's a shame since Bob Kane's version of history is usually so reliably accurate.I suspect the idea that "Hugh Hefner started the Batman camp fad" is probably just an urban legend, despite what Bob Kane claimed in his autobiography decades after the fact.

Adam West in "The Girl Who Knew Too Much"
I've honestly never heard of this film, but for the Adam fans here (which I'm guessing is most of us) I figured I'd mention that Hamilton Books has "The Girl Who Knew Too Much" (1969) on BluRay for dirt cheap. Lots of interesting things show up at this store from time to time and for what ...

Re: 1/8 Batmobile Mego scaled from Fanhome
To each his own, but for me spending two grand on a Batmobile to carry Mego figures is like buying a solid gold picture frame to display "Dogs Playing Poker."

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024
I'm not sure "easier to remove" was a good thing: My Robin quickly disappeared, possibly off sharing a happy retirement somewhere with that Goldfinger henchman from the Aston Martin. Batman was safely wedged in under the steering wheel, so at least I've still got him. And, curiously, I sti...

Re: McFarlane Toys doing Batman 66 figures?
How do you think I feel? Five years later and my McFarlane Captain Kirk figure still has no crew! Not even Spock. A five year mission is less fun when you can only reenact "The Mark of Gideon" every week. I hope your missing figs materialize, but when McFarlane moves on, he really moves on.

Re: Most popular Halloween costumes each year
There's no way I believe that. Batman's footprint in pop culture ca. 1954 was near zilch compared to Superman, Daniel Boone, Popeye, Zorro and about a hundred other characters, and I'm not even sure licensed characters were that big a deal at that point in time. The notion that Eisenhower era famili...

Re: Anybody have a vintage Crazy Foam bottle?
You might consider leaving your stuff to the Special Collections and Archives department at your local university, if they'll take it. The university where I work has the third or fourth largest comic collection in the US and lots of related merchandise and curiosities that researchers, students and...

Re: The Latest Batman Item You've Acquired?
Interesting to see the latest waves of Marvel action figures - and even the recent McFarlane "Batman '66" Wayne Manor library playset - without plastic windows. Buyers take potluck on the paint jobs of the contents! (I used to spend a lot of time comparing face applications and sticker pl...

Wow. I would spend good money for that, and I doubt I'm alone.

I guess "generic caucasian male in a Party City Superman costume '66" was too long to fit on the card.

Aargh, now that you've suggested Musk, I can't unsee it. :| It's going to bother me until I figure out who it resembles. I see a little of Paul Wesley, the new Captain Kirk, but the face is too long. With a repaint it could almost pass for Conan O'Brian. In short, it resembles any number of people e...

Re: SDCC 2023
Here's a good look at "66 Superman" at the Entertainment Earth site. He looks vaguely familiar, not sure who (Clint Walker, maybe?) but certainly not George Reeves. It's not a bad looking figure but it doesn't say "Superman" to me, and the "S" shield is the 70s version ...

Re: SDCC 2023
Pretty sure MacFarlane is behind the "Multiverse" line that's already veered into movie and TV versions of DC characters as well as various comic iterations, so it's not inconceivable they'd end up with a George-inspired figure, although the '66 Batman line would be a really weird place to...

Re: SDCC 2023
Come to think of it, the Filmation cartoon "New Adventures of Superman" debuted in September of 1966, so that's another possibility. I'd love a Curt Swan-inspired Superman figure. Years ago DC Direct released a "Silver Age" two-pack with Superman and Lois, but he didn't particula...
