DOCUMENT: Semple's "Mr. Zero" concept and 1st episode summary

In our recent "The Dozierverse Stumbles" episode of TO THE BATPOLES!, we talked about the script for a test scene (perhaps never shot?) for a science fiction/detective show called MR. ZERO, written by Lorenzo Semple, Jr. In November on the show we're going to discuss the 40-page descriptio...

We discuss what these Bat-records taught 1970s kids about psych...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #166: "Batman and Robin": Hot and "Kalt"

There's a rumor someone used an auto-dial device to skew the voting in favor of Jason's death. That is a really interesting tidbit. The kind of thing that gets glossed over in a general-interest publication: "Batman fans in the '80s wanted Robin dead!!!" I'd be really interested in knowin...

Re: Was Eartha Kitt ever scheduled to play Siren?

Nice sleuthing! I wasn't aware of this idea that Kitt could have been cast as Siren, but interesting to hear the theory put to rest, just the same!

Why not keep going in that direct...

Re: SCRIPT: "Instant Freeze"/"Rats Like Cheese"

I took a look at the Freeze scripts, and it looks like the only ones we really need to look at are the preliminary and the 1st draft. The other two are, apparently, retyped versions of the 1st draft.

SCRIPT: "Instant Freeze"/"Rats Like Cheese"

https://deconstructingcomics.com/Batpoles/freezesand.jpg The next script we discuss on TO THE BATPOLES will be for the George Sanders version of Mr. Freeze, written by Max Hodge. Several different versions of it, in fact. Here's a link to a Dropbox folder containing all the scans (some scripts are ...

Re: Who bought TV rights, networks or studios?

It just occurred to me that Henry Saperstein, one of the parties involved in the NBC/Dozier "Dick Tracy" acquisition deal, also had a working relationship with Toho Studios of Japan...suggesting the possibility that Saperstein could have also served as an intermediary between Dozier and T...

Re: Who bought TV rights, networks or studios?

I'm researching William Dozier's DICK TRACY pilot. Some sources say NBC bought the rights to the character, other sources say 20th Century Fox-Greenway bought the rights. I'm not sure which to believe. This item from the July 4 '66 issue of the trade publication Broadcasting somehow manages to say ...

Who bought TV rights, networks or studios?

This is tangentially Batman-related. I'm researching William Dozier's DICK TRACY pilot. Some sources say NBC bought the rights to the character, other sources say 20th Century Fox-Greenway bought the rights. I'm not sure which to believe. Anyone have good knowledge about how this kind of thing worke...
