I really feel bad about this one. Beautiful lady.
The last of the regular cast of "Surfside Six."

Catwoman outfit on Felony Squad

I recently saw an episode of the series "The Felony Squad" (1966 - 1969) called "Underground Nightmare," first broadcast on October 11 1968. In it the Catwoman catsuit is used in a scene where an "underground" film maker shoots a murder scene featuring 2 very Batman typ...

Re: Hatter moll Jean Hale passes away

Compared to Diane McBain's Lisa, I think Jean Hale's Polly was disappointingly written. Polly was not particularly involved in the Hatter's fiendish machinations, and didn't seem really evil, unlike Lisa. One of my favourite Jean Hale roles is in an episode of The Smothers Brothers 1965/6 sitcom (wh...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #132: Women of Season One: Not Just "Poor, Deluded Girls"

The moll/henchwoman characters in Season 1 can maybe be categorized in this way -- Women who are free agent criminals and as ruthless as the male villains, with no indications of being reformable - Molly, Lisa, Lydia Limpet, Queenie, Pauline A bad lot, but with an attraction to Batman which makes he...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #121: Send Off the Clown (with Ken Holtzhouser!)

There was also The Munsters -"If a Martian answers - hang up!" And a Gomer Pyle episode as well. The mistaken alien invasion plot was a staple of 60s TV. The Beverly Hillbillies saw some green little people and a fake saucer Drysdale was using for an advertising gimmick and thought martian...

Vetri/Dorian certainly was stunning in "When dinosaurs ruled the earth." Which I saw in 1970 at the cinema as a 13 year old.

Re: RIP, Sid Haig.

Sid played the boss of the Haunted House nightclub in the 1967 "beach" movie "It's bikini world." It was a real club on Hollywood Boulevard, it seems.

Re: The Great Divide

In the UK ours were Bat Laffs, dated 1966 - which had pathetic "jokes" on the back eg Q - What is a bat's favorite magazine? A - PlayBAT The painted cards, dated 1966, came with Bazooka Joe chewing gum. On the back were details of how to join the "Official Batman fan club" - send...

Re: The Great Divide

I saw the show in its first run in the UK. I'm not sure when it began in the UK, though it would have been later in 1966 than January. I can still recall that first episode and being a bit freaked out by the Riddler and his henchies in those gas masks (for some reason!). In June 1966, from issue 20,...

Re: Grace Gaynor/Chickadee RIP?

I hadn't seen it. Now I have.

Grace only has 15 IMDB credits.
I've seen a number of these apart from Batman - the Hawaiian Eye episodes, Wild Wild West episodes, the UNCLE episode- and the bit in a 70's Wonder Woman.

I think she went into real estate after her acting career.

Re: Grace Gaynor/Chickadee RIP?

Chickadee was one of my favourite henchwomen in the series - a rare "moll" allowed to be as active and rotten as the male villains. There were a small number of others, such as Molly, Queenie, Undine, and the Chandell "phantoms." I think Chickadee was the only gun toting henchwom...

Re: RIP Francine York

I actually saw "The Doll Squad" at the cinema on its original UK release.
Francine played Amos Burke's squeeze a number of times on "Burke's Law" - as did Nancy Kovack.

It seems Francine had cancer.

Probably my favourite moll from the show.
RIP - never to be forgotten.
