Re: TO THE BATPOLES #150: “The Astrologer”: The Proto-“Zodiac” Script
I always respect your opinion, Dan E., Well there's your problem... You see, when you name a character Venus in a fantasy setting, that name has implications and connotations . It has meaning. And there is some of that in Kandel's original script. His Venus is more like Blaze--she definitely is The...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #150: “The Astrologer”: The Proto-“Zodiac” Script
150 episodes! Wow! I always enjoy these "script" episodes because of the behind-the-scenes glimpses they give us of how 66 Batman was made. But I'm equally grateful that everyone here reads and comments on the scripts... so that I don't have to. Scripts are just clunky things to read. Thanks, everyo...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #149: Alan Napier: "Not Just Batman's Butler"
HAPPY NEW YEAR to Tim & Paul and all my favorite commentators here on the ASAK 66 Batman Message Board! I hope everyone had a great holiday season! I went into this podcast knowing absolutely nothing about Alan Napier's life outside of the '66 Batman series. His list of acting credits is incredible....

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #145: “Batman: The Movie”: What is “the director’s input”?
Great show, guys. And fantastic post, too, Ben Bentley. You are both all-seeing and all-knowing. As I wrap up your second take on Martinson and his direction of the movie, I'm reflecting on Hich C's hypothetical rewrite of the movie from last time. And so on a similar topic, I'll bring up an alterna...

I agree with Dan (again, great to have you back, sir)... https://media.giphy.com/media/ASd0Ukj0y3qMM/giphy.gif But here comes the contrarian in me. If I had been a consultant at the time trying to maximize the box office, my advice would have been this--scrap the 'multiple villains working together...

Re: Allan Moore's Gone Off - AGAIN
Moore seems to forget that the original Batman comics were nothing like the '66 series. He's essentially using what was a one-off, very divergent adaptation (and ignoring what established the character) lead to his false conclusion. No, I don't think so. He's said that the 66 version is his favorit...

Tim said the magic words. https://media.giphy.com/media/tZDxBieiP8QMr1OrJ2/giphy.gif My tent stays pitched! But you already know that. Brilliant take on the "Bomb" scene, Paul. Triomphe de la campiness. I am most pleased. The bomb scene isn't camp nor camping, but it is some darn good straight humor...

LOVE that Mystery Bat Machine in your profile pic, TP-6597! Zoinks! Kudos to Moore for digging Adam. Kudos to Moore for acknowledging the inherent flaw of 'The Killing Joke." And kudos to YOU for acknowledging the acknowledgement that I am giving to you right at this moment. No? OK. I like Moore's t...

Re: Allan Moore's Gone Off - AGAIN
Yeah, that's why I drink green tea. No, in all seriousness, I don't think that's the point that Moore is making. Moore argues that Batman has become a dark character because adult fans are unwilling to leave him in their childhood. Writers, as I interpret his comment, have dragged Batman and other c...
