Re: Hohner Harmonica Ad

Great vintage ad. eBay is always such a great source for building a '66 Batman (or influenced) media coverage collection.

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs

Do we know if the replacement of Riddle with May a case of deciding a new sound was needed for Season 3 in terms of the format or a case of Riddle "moving on" and necessitating the replacement? Riddle I know spent the bulk of the 67-68 season doing all the scores for the Ron Ely "Tarzan" series. It...

Re: hornets sting

I just made my first one, and I started with an extendable selfie-stick (available on Ebay for under $20) as the main body. It extends to about 42 inches. I removed the hardware and cut the front and back tips with a hacksaw. The handle I made from a part from a curling iron I found in a thrift sto...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs

I also enjoyed her performance, and as Lord Death Man indicated, she pretty much was the brains of the operation given how little Louie knew about making perfume. I also liked her line reading of 'I was hoping you'd say that,' after Louie says he intends to double-cross Bruce and Dick and kill Batg...

High C & epaddon - complete agreement. Over a month ago, another member pulled a similar, undeserved attack on me, and I believe that member was banned.

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs

Not much to add the observations about this bottom-scraping episode, other than it was sort of nice to see Bruce and Dick as themselves for the majority of the episode, just to remind audiences that they had lives outside of being the Dynamic Duo. I know Dozier was pinching pennies until they scream...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #108: The William Dozier Fanboy

I probably should have said that Dozier in his mind thought he could be as big a producer as Martin or Allen in 66 with all the projects he had at that point as opposed to whether he had a real shot at succeeding because I think you're right that he wasn't going to succeed with his general thinking...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #108: The William Dozier Fanboy

The pilot episode "An Echo of Bugles" has a plot that would NEVER get by in today's world of uber-PC. Colton, the drifting ex-Union vet objects when a young punk harasses an old ex-Confederate soldier in a bar by desecrating the *Confederate* battle flag he still carries. Colton sees the Confederat...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #108: The William Dozier Fanboy

Another winner, guys. Big thank you to Oscar Lilley for his laboring over the Dozier papers. Facts go such a long way in shattering long-accepted myths, such as Burt Ward being the "big head"/headache of the series (if you believe anything Stanley Ralph Ross ever said on the matter), but the papers ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #107: Archie Meets Batman, We Meet a Listener

I wonder what the thinking is behind the '66 Batman crossovers. Clearly one made perfect sense (you can guess which one I'm referring to), but the others remind me of the kind of ideas children throw around, where they have characters having no natural connection to each other (in origin, tone, or a...

Re: RIP Seymour Cassell aka "Cancelled"

Seymour Cassel will be missed. My earliest memory of him was the Green Hornet crossover, but I certainly remember his work with John Cassavetes, as well as significant TV guest spots. Rarely the same kind of performance twice.

Today, March 30, 1939, the first appearance of Batman in Detective #27.
Although this Alex Ross painting is several years old, it is being used again for another version of Detective #27:

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #106: The Funny Script Felonies (w/John S. Drew!)

It says something when a podcast about a TV series is more entertaining than the series its covering. I believe Paul said the Joker was acting like a 6-year old, and I guess that's the general belief about season three Joker, who has a range of cartoon villain to whining man-child. In fact, in Joel ...
