Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #095: Mego Action Figures Emerge from the Fog

My brother and I were pretty big Mego fans in the 70s; if memory serves, the only World's Greatest Super-Hero figures we did not have were Wonder Woman, The Thing, Supergirl, any of the 4 Teen Titans, the Green Goblin, the Lizard, Riddler and Conan. We had the Batcave, and all of the Bat-vehicles. Y...

Re: When Worlds Collide! (Funko)

The chest emblem on the Funko reminds me of the Captain Action Batman uniform emblem with the gold foil oval look--

I cannot recall any other Bat-figures with the gold oval, since the standard color (as we all know) has always been yellow.

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

Pauline's shepherd's crook becomes a sleeping-gas gun, eliminating her seductive come-on to Robin. Even with treachery in her heart, the Bo Peep character, like Robin, exudes innocence. Sexing up their scene together would've sounded a false note, IMHO. I don't think so; Robin--or Dick Grayson--was...

Re: The second mask

That's a good point. Its too much of a "second skin" that does not distract the viewer in the way the pilot mask does with its unusual features.

Re: BAT 77 Episode #02 - The Moonman Shines / The Catwoman Designs

A few things... Filmation redesigning Catwoman was so pointless in that her costume was--a leotard with nothing that would sell the "cat" motif at all--as in head gear, mask--anything that the comics ever used in the then-past three decades of the character. A cat logo on the chest might as well be ...

Re: The Next Big Four

Hi guys Hope you are well So I was thinking ( yep again) And was wondering if there was a 2nd movie which different 4 villains would you include (Let's pretend it would work) The problem is characters having a believable reason to work together / mutual interest. I could not see the Sanders Mr. Fre...

Re: Joker Movie Reveal

Yeah, no. What John said! I said it before, and I will say it again, Why can’t they just stop with this stuff already! Because Christopher Nolan's Batman films were phenomenal successes that appealed to comic fan and regular movie-goer alike, so that model is what drives all versions to follow. Thi...

Re: THE JOKER Looms Large on Final ARCHIE/BATMAN '66 #5 Cover

I think he meant what's the "in universe" explanation. I agree it seems a stretch for Batman to travel to sleepy Riverdale just to hang out at Pop's Chocklit Shop or watch Moose play football. Yeah, but so many of the '66-based comics were treated as light and/or silly (IOW, not played like season ...

Re: Real Names

Hi guys I was thinking- only the Mad Hatter, King Tut, Dr.Cassandra and Mr.Freeze were given their alter ego/ real names on the show. Have I missed any? The Green Hornet's true identity--Britt Reid--was named a few times during the crossover. Kato was mentioned as well, though the episode's writer ...

Re: "New Look" vs Tv Show

I mean the comics managed to create plausible, compact devices that would fit in the cylinders. which were not out of range for prop makers. As I mentioned, the TV show's Batarang pouch was infrequently used, with the actors just reaching behind them, so the pouch really served no purpose, nor would...

Re: BAT 77 Episode #01 - The Gosh-Darned Bat Mite

Filmation dropped the ball on the 1977 Batman cartoon; the Action For Children's Television guidelines/restrictions were in full force, so unlike the 1968-70 Batman cartoons, the '77 version was completely free of physical violence (specifically punching) making the Duo no better than kids playing d...

"Emmy-winning"? Ho ho. The only way that show could get an Emmy would be if you threw one at the TV.

Re: "New Look" vs Tv Show

The belt needed to give the feeling of practicality for the show with pouches and the added on rope and batarang speciality pouches that were used occasionally. The cylinders on the Infantino design would have been useless in live action for larger items. But that's the thing--the comic book use of...

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

The article title led me to believe that Affleck had a body double, possibly added into the final film later. But as you can read for yourself, it's actually about who Batman's sculpted suit was modeled after. Other than that, I didn't find anything. I agree it looks fake, but no one online seems t...
