https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8b/The_Super_Cops.JPG/2560px-The_Super_Cops.JPG The Super Cops - Greenberg and Hantz….aka Starsky and Hutch! I recall watching the Starsky and Hutch pilot episode or movie premiere and noting they were doing the same stuff as Greenberg and Hant...

Re: R.I.P. David Soul aka 'Hutch'

He was 80?!? I will always remember him as the young cop in Magnum Force and Starsky and Hutch. An observation: Starsky and Hutch appears to be HEAVILY influenced by the movie, “The Super Cops” in which the two partner officers were referred to as “Batman and Robin” on the street. I love that movie....

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

I finally found the right combination - gloss paint with semi gloss clear over it. I’m pretty happy with this result. Boy, the black paint and high def camera pick up every dust speck! I’m looking forward to detailing the trim and interior. There’s light at the end of the tunnel! https://i.imgur.co...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

Rough unacceptable paint is wet sanded smooth with 2000 grit sandpaper. Wiped with alcohol, ready for paint. Unfortunately, I’m out of town for the weekend and can’t work on it. At this rate, I’ll finish it by Christmas….maybe! When I return, this car will be sprayed with gloss black, allowed to dr...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

https://i.imgur.com/lu7VFXg.jpeg I am having a tough time getting this thing finished!!!! This brings back memories of being a kid and rushing putting model kits together. Hah, I remember either rushing it to get it done or abandoning it completely. I have not changed that much. And…I believe these...

Yes! I’ve seen that and have watched the foils used on models tutorials but have never actually done it. I am somewhat dreading it for fear of messing the whole project up.

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

Really like the color. What color is that? Can you share the paint color and brand? Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black. Some of those pics look grey but it’s the lighting. It’s a little more flat than I’d intended. I’m not going for ultra shiny but not totally flat either. This is where an airbrush woul...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

WOW!!!!!! Those are some nice ENGINES!!!!!!!!! You guys are very kind. I am a novice modeler, making lots of mistakes but I want this car! :D I noticed in every old photo or film clip that these cars don’t shine. I think they came from the factory with dull paint, so I’m going to make this one semi...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

For anyone interested, here is a photo of the 1940 Ford price list. Now, they want $332.00 for a diecast model! I have become infatuated with the 1939 - 1949 era Fords. It’s an obsession. I’ve even had bad thoughts about buying one. For now, I’ll be satisfied with a 1/25 scale plastic version of it...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

https://youtu.be/hNWL7a1UyfY Important news regarding the 1st hardtop Batmobile. Those old videos are fun to watch. I showed my son the clip they used for Frisch’s Big Boy restaurants as a training video for hiring new servers/waitresses back in the 1950s. So different from today. Yes! Exactly! It’...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

Wow - to my surprise, the site is still up. I love that serial even though Batman’s costume was unbelievably bad. This movie serial needs a model diorama and I’m going to build one!!! Jim, the story that I heard was that the suit was actually designed for Kirk Allyn who turned it down so as NOT to ...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

I can find 1/43 diecast versions (USA models), but they are usually overseas and expensive! https://www.rmtoys.co.uk/products/usa-models-1-43-scale-model-car-usa-8-1940-ford-4dr-sedan-metallic-blue WOW! That’s a perfect replica of the car from the serial!!! It’s way too expensive, however. I’m an e...

Re: 1st On Screen Hardtop Batmobile!

The best thing about the model you bought is that you can add a bat mask and rear fin turning it into the 1948 Batmobile. It’s perfect for that too! Yes, that’d be very easy. It’s begging for a bat fin and I have the sheet styrene to make it. I recall Bob Kane’s wife stating in an interview that Bo...
