Re: Robin, Batgirl and Vietnam

I found several stories about how LBJ signed legislation on Aug. 26, 1965, without any advance warning, that got rid of the marriage deferment for men who were married WITHOUT children. So any man not married w/out kids before Aug. 27 was not eligible. Burt and Bonney Lindsey had gotten married in ...

Re: Robin, Batgirl and Vietnam

Fascinating. Does anyone have any knowledge of the draft process and why Burt's divorce would've changed his eligibility status?

Re: The show is streaming on Roku.

I gave a look just for fun. The repetitious ads mean I’ll probably stick to Blu-Ray, at least while I’m home. But it’s worth noting that the “Next week” villain-teaser tags are restored to the ends of the Filmrise episodes.

Re: Behind the scenes footage on ebay!!!

It's fascinating that these exist, but I'm wondering why they do. Can anyone on the board with studio experience explain how snippets of dailies from multiple episodes (and at least two seasons) might wind up on "compilation reels" like these? Would there be any reason to create such things in the c...

Hmmm. Does the modern version seem gritty compared to the original? ;)

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

I don't think so; Robin--or Dick Grayson--was more than aware of the opposite sex, even to the point where Wayne chastised him in the Chandell arc for having his own girl-happy/romantic feelings on the brain when wondering about Harriet & Chandell. One could say Grayson was not innocent in the sens...

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

The idea of the "sleeping cream" does make sense if you understand how it would be made: using a blender with an airtight vacuum chamber. Put cream in, vacuum out the air, refill with your favorite sleeping gas formula and whip it good - the gas would stay suspended in the cream. Or skip the gas an...

Re: 1/12/66 Party

The only thing that's weird about this was a party on 1/12/66 in which multiple celebrities attended and showing both parts of the pilot episode. How do you know they showed both parts of the pilot? The 7:30 pm time posted on the outdoor poster made me think they just showed the TV broadcast. Were ...

I corrected my original post to read ""aka BMC" after noticing a typo (by me) in your quoted copy. Holy dyslexia!

Re: Real Names

Always bugged me how Kato is his name both in and out of costume. And yet, nobody figures it out. I only worked this out earlier this year, while watching a few Green Hornet episodes during a crossover event that featured GH in the Dick Tracy comic strip: The convention when Green Hornet and Kato s...

Re: CPO Romero, USN

Romero was a "chief" (master botswain's mate, aka BMC) in the Coast Guard. His WWII service included operating an on-deck winch, and crewmates considered him a master of that particular art. I believe he's demonstrating that skill in the photo at left.

Re: 1/12/66 Party

Great find! That sure looks like fun. It's interesting that Burgess Meredith made the scene in civilian garb. Partygoers would have to wait another week to see his debut as Pengy, so I suppose showing up in costume would have been a spoiler—not to mention putting a crimp in his dance moves. Less sur...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #094 “The Londinium Larcenies” and a legacy layout in Los Angeles

Anyway, you guys did some good research on Johns and Vallee, but I was surprised you didn't mention how Vallee was referenced twice earlier in the show. I recall Bruce's acquisition of Chief Screaming Chicken's raccoon pelts from the coat of a down-and-out crooner. What was the other reference to V...
