Re: Vintage Yvonne quotes from July 1967

Very interesting article! Since it was basically all promotion for season 3 of Batman, I doubt Yvonne's piece represented anything more than additional promotion. I would be very interested to hear Yvonne's response to the piece today - whether she'd disavow involvement or defend it. I am relatively...

Re: Catwoman and Riddler featured in first DC 1966 digital c

They're having variant covers for an online comic?! I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that's part of the tongue in cheek humor we're in store for. I don't so mind Catwoman turning on a fellow villain to save Batman - they could do that without turning her "good". I...

Re: Best Villain's Lair

I'd give runner-up to Black Widow for having the best exterior to her lair, but it's hard to beat the camera shots of the Riddler's gang running around elaborate, underground plumbing systems in the pilot

Re: 1966 Batman returns to a brand new comic!

I like the interview with the writer. It's great that he is looking for a season one feel to this series. It doesn't sound like it'll be treated specifically as season 4 or refer back to past episodes much, so not much concerned with continuity. Do we have an opinion on that either way? I wouldn't m...

Re: Rebooting Batman

If the 66' Batman was a reflection of the childish dopiness of the early 60's comics, wouldn't a reboot today need to be a parody of the dark, brooding violent Batman? I don't know how you do that, though, and make it something just suggests 'TV Series' instead of just a 10-minute 'skit'

Re: Batman And The Desilu Backlot

David's site mentions the burning Riddler's car creating a hotel fire - I wonder if that behind-the-scenes footage that surfaced several months ago (mostly of traffic crawling by the pilot's filming site) is only still around due to worries that the hotel would come after Greenway with legal action

Re: Batman And The Desilu Backlot

They had such a weird, disjointed business arrangement, maybe for all Greenway knew, the show was being filmed in Gotham City. Even David's site was calling it Culver Studios instead of Desilu. "A Greenway/20th Century Fox/Desilu" production - yeah, that could have created a delay on the D...

Re: Episode 120 guest stars

Hitchcock would have been a great cameo during season one or two! Though possibly that'd have a little too clever - taking it too far outside of what a child could recognize as an adventure story, (which they ahered to for the most part)

Re: Batman And The Desilu Backlot

Good point about Klink! Andy Grffith seems to have held such a stranglehold on all those exteriors that I'm surprised we didn't get cameos from his troupe. When one thinks of the possible walk-ons due to the actor's proximity (Captain Kirk, Mr.Phelps...), I don't know why we wound up with some of th...

Batman Goes West Concludes

My phony Viewmaster Batman story concludes over at the Batgirl-Battrap site. I will admit several aspects of the story are not completely true to the TV show. Dozier wouldn't have brought back specific henchmen characters from past episodes. The show's inattention to henchman was so pervasive it act...

Rights on "Fury of the Dragon"/"Green Hornet"

Anyone know what the rights situation is on the two "movies" that were released in the mid-70's to cash in on Bruce Lee's death? They were each 4 episodes of the show clumsily edited together. Since they were catering to the kung fu movie crowd, they borrowed brief segments from a variety ...

Re: Batman And The Desilu Backlot

That's fascinating stuff, epaddon - must have taken quite some time to piece that together from the brief shots in the chase scene. That "central" building is the same one that shoawed in numerous first season Batmobile chase scenes? Also, can you tell what part of the map the trio is stan...

Re: RIP Malachi Throne, aka False Face

Very depressing news. One of the last few remaining "special guest villains" from the Batman show, and one who made a huge impact on 1960's television (and beyond). HIs two Batman episodes served as much of the inspiration for the 'Return to the Batcave' script. He guest-starred in the mos...

Re: Dual identity question ???

SprangFan is right that, of all the screen interpretations of Batman, the Adam West version is by far the least likely to get into character's backstories. I don't think that type of material would have been out of the question, however The sillier Bat comics the series spoofed did at times get into...
