Eddie Hice, 1930-2015

I learned today that Eddie Hice passed away in 2015 and thought I would start a thread. (I couldn't find one via the 'search' function.) In his long and varied career as a stunt man, Hice was involved with both the Batman television show and movie. In the movie, he was 'Guinea Pig #1' who The Pengui...

Re: Scary Villians

I don't know that I ever found any of the villains scary. As I've gotten older, though, I've come to appreciate the sinister quality that some of the Season 1 villains had. As an adult, I find False Face to be the most unnerving of all. The expressionless mask is a big part of it as you really do st...

Re: Did anybody notice...???

I noticed something interesting in Give 'Em the Axe . During the fight scene in the museum basement, Batman pushes the Joey Tata character into a pile of boxes on the right side of the screen. The fight then shifts to the center of the screen. But if you keep your eye on the bottom right corner of t...

Tallulah Bankhead because she was so ill at the time. At this point, she shouldn't have been working.

The Sandman Cometh/The Catwoman Goeth

So, I downloaded and watched The Sandman Cometh/The Catwoman Goeth which, after The Riddler episodes, are my favorite pair of episodes. Here are my highlights and lowlights: Lowlights : 1) The Bat computer spewing spaghetti in the first episode. 2) The bit with the two police officers in the second ...

Re: Did anybody notice...???

In The Sandman Cometh , I never noticed before that Sandman is standing in the back of the crowd watching Catwoman sleeping in the store front window. He looks like a giant compared to everyone else in the crowd -- how did I miss him? Also, I never noticed that one of his henchmen is sitting in the ...

Re: Can you pick a top 10?

All time favorite: 01 The Ring of Wax/Give 'Em the Axe (Best Gorshin performance) The rest (in air date order): 02 The Joker is Wild/Batman Is Riled (Best Joker episodes) 03 True of False-Face/Holy Rat Race (Unusual pair of episodes w/ a very disturbing villain) 04 The Bookworm Turns/While Gotham Ci...

Re: Musings on John Astin and Batman's Anniversary

I downloaded "A Riddling Controversy" today and watching it again made me realize how much I like Astin's alternate take on The Riddler. His performance and the structure of the episodes work in tandem with one another, which I'm not sure would have been the case if Gorshin had done these ...

Re: Adam & Burt scheduled for WW Madison in Feb

Just got back from the Madison Comic Con. The best part was seeing the 1966 Batmobile up close and in person. They even had the bomb and a can of Bat shark repellent from the movie with it! It was sort of interesting to wander through the celebrity signing booths and see who was attracting big lines.

Re: BATMAN: Season 3 - which was best?

I would give the Siren the episode the nod as 'best' if the question is: "Which Season 3 episode compares most favorably to Season 1?" I would give the two Shame episodes the nod as 'best' if the question is: "Which Season 3 episode is the best comedic episode?" As others have no...

Re: Talk Episodes Here

Watching 'Death in Slow Motion' yesterday, I noticed that the Riddler actually mentions Mr. Van Jones commissioning him to make the silent movie early in the episode. In retrospect, I wish that wasn't mentioned because it would have kept the viewer guessing to the very end what the Riddler was tryin...

Re: CNN's Five Best Moments, Including Cesar's Debut

I watched the first Joker adventure tonight on my DVD set. One thing that really struck me about these episodes is that there is hardly anything remotely camp about them. They are just two well-acted, well-written crime stories that, but for the costumes the 3 principals wore, could have compared fa...

Re: Rest in Peace Lorenzo Semple Jr

For me, he was the key behind-the-scenes person that made the first season so wonderful. Without him to set and maintain the delicate balance between seriousness and satire that made the first season what it was, the show quickly deteriorated to the point where the third season felt like a different...

Re: Commentary for ALL Batman ’66 Episodes May Be in the Wor

One name I haven't seen mentioned is Dina "Calamity Jan" Merrill. She turned 90 (!) in December and I have no idea what her health is like. But, if she's willing and able, I would love to see her provide a commentary track w/ Barry Dennen (FRED!!!) on the Shame/Calamity Jan episodes from S...
