Re: The Dumbing Down of Batman

How about when he MUST fight Riddler because his honor and courage has been questioned. What happened to sticks and stones, etc. Basically, they would ignore Batman and Robin's innate character traits for either a plot point or a dumb punchline once Semple was out of the picture. That's a good poin...

Re: The Dumbing Down of Batman

Something about soaking themselves in hot water and epsom salts to counteract the poison. Obviously this isn't something viable in the moment so why would Batman even bring it up? Another moment is when they cover their eyes and enter the ladies changing room in Catwoman's Dressed To Kill. How were ...

The Dumbing Down of Batman

I just watched the clip when the Joker and his gang paralyze the Dynamic Duo with sea urchin spines. And Batman's response is funny (to a degree). But I feel like this is the perfect example of how they ruined the character; why would he say something so oblivious to their situation? I think in earl...

Re: Arlen Schumer Article On The Show

I try not to comment on articles I haven't read (and I still may) but this whole thing is a non-issue. There's now so many different versions of the character, just enjoy what you like and ignore what you don't. While there's elements of the production design and Kim Basinger was a hottie, same with...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #117: Ross' Final Shame

http://deconstructingcomics.com/Batpoles/greatescape.jpg "Come back, Shame!" In season three, come back he does, and seemingly stupider than ever! http://tothebatpoles.libsyn.com/117-ross-final-shame You could say that about everyone in the third season! Holy Ba-dump bump tish! Have only been able ...

Re: A Revisit To The Bookworm

When I think about it now, did any villain ever physically threaten a moll? Besides Joker's plan to poison Susie with Mexican perfume, he also tried to feed Venus to the giant clam. Tut subjected Nefertiti to his pebble torture and planned to boil Neila in oil after she freed Robin and Lisa Carson....

Re: Third Season Queries and What Ifs

The black-and-white Superman episodes definitely have a darker tone, with a criminal couple falling to their death off a cliff after being placed there by Superman, a crime witness having his mind destroyed by a machine, an elderly woman getting pushed down the steps in her wheelchair and even Lois...

Re: Third Season Queries and What Ifs

Robinboyblunderer, think it's just pure nostalgia for me :) I think if I'd seen the first season first then I may have felt different. I get what you say about Batgirl messing the chemistry up. It changes the formula so much. Another thing about season 3 I always wondered, is why they chose the Min...

Bookworm, falseface and black widow all deserved a rematch
I'd have preferred them to recast Black Widow with a much younger actress, but yes, there could've been some good episodes done with these characters, much preferable to Gumm, Lola, Clavicle, Cabalah etc.

cheers

Re: A Revisit To The Bookworm

To this day, I find it surprising that Bookworm was a one-shot villain. I wonder if it had more to do with Roddy McDowall's availability than with the character. As mentioned by others, the Bookworm episodes were especially dark, and a standout moment for me was Batman's rescue of Robin from the be...

Re: Third Season Queries and What Ifs

Hi guys, So, Season 3 is probably my best season (I know that's the complete opposite to a lot of people :D) Holy Minority Opinion! Interesting to hear from someone who enjoys the third season. It has three of my favorite episodes, the Londinium Trilogy but the rest of it, well...most of it is terr...

Re: Third Season Queries and What Ifs

"Catwoman's Dressed to Kill" that I find quite startling. It's when Catwoman invades the luncheon and says to the women in attendance, "You women with your fancy hairdos -- what do you know about beauty?" For me, it's a powerful moment -- a woman of color confronting a group of privileged white wom...

Re: Leslie Gore Interview

A little insight from the guest star’s perspective. https://youtu.be/cxEq6FbpYPw Thanks for posting this, interesting interview. I like the anecdote about Julie resting her elbow on SRR. I don't know if it's because it was broadcast in black and white or it just shows how much acting Leslie did in ...
