Re: FUNKO 1966 Batman 18" POP! LE 700 Figure Released and SOLD OUT!!!

I suppose there's a "cute factor" with little "babyfied" superheroes, Darth Vader and other characters defined by masks, but unmasked Funko figures all look identical. This "James Bond" is Sean Connery and that one is Daniel Craig? Sure, whatever you say. (At least "Roger" has a mole). "Oddjob" has ...

Yeah, but it still looks like a Funko Pop, so no thanks.

Re: Superman: The Movie Anniversary This Sunday 12/15/19

Like Andy, my Superman was George Reeves, even though he was dead seven years before I was born. His portrayal of Superman as a wise, patient, fatherly figure defined the character for me, and fit with the comics of my childhood. Interestingly, I didn't want to BE Superman so much as I wanted to bel...

Re: CW Crisis Event

I'm sort of curious about the cameos, but I figure it's inevitable some Youtube poster will edit them all into a super-cut that I can watch later, and it'll only take 5-10 minutes of my time as opposed to hours. Frankly, I'm not sure it's a good idea to remind us of all the better versions of these ...

Re: THE RED DRAGONS--New Bond Book I'm Working On!

Actually, the literary rights to the James Bond character passed into the public domain in Canada and several other nations in 2015 (strange but true!), so if you could find a publisher, it could see print there. But you'd have to be careful to include only elements from the Fleming novels, and not ...

Re: Someone made a Kelley Jones Batman mask

That first Supes isn't bad. It has almost a Steranko vibe to it. Not sure how he could stuff those arms into a shirt and sportcoat as "mild mannered Clark Kent" but that's typical of most depictions these days (and soon to be irrelevant, apparently). Spidey seems a logical leap, as he can "do" horro...

Re: Someone made a Kelley Jones Batman mask

Yeah, there's a lot of wiggle room with Batman: you can distort him pretty far towards what looks like a junkie's nightmare vision without necessarily losing the reader. But if, say, Aquaman or Superman were to show up for visit, it would all fall apart. The Flash could never run with Jones-drawn le...

Re: Someone made a Kelley Jones Batman mask

Bernie Wrightson beat him to it by more than ten years.

Image

Jones drew Bernie's Batman with a Marshall Rogers jawline and a body by Hans and Franz. The one thing (I think) he did originate was claws for fingers. That was...interesting.

It's appropriate he's from Texas, anyway.

It's Longhorn Batman!

Re: The forgotten 1994 Batsuit from DC's "Troika"

The anatomy in that image is as whack as the other one, IMO, but I recognize that different folks have different tastes, and doubtless some of the stuff I like would leave others cold. That said, Jones is best suited to stand-alone works like "Red Rain" where he can get as individualistic as he plea...

Re: The forgotten 1994 Batsuit from DC's "Troika"

BTW, whenever I'm tempted to go easy on Kelly Jones, I remember this image, which besides being possibly the worst image ever of Batman (and only "possibly" because Sam Keith has also drawn him), is also one of the worst images in comics history, period. How does this one get a free pass when Rob Li...

Re: The forgotten 1994 Batsuit from DC's "Troika"

I enjoy team books and the Justice Society is near and dear to my heart, but Batman works better solo or at most teamed with one other character, as in the old Brave and the Bold books. And quite apart from matters of my opinion (which no one at DC cares about), the official take on Batman is that h...

Re: The forgotten 1994 Batsuit from DC's "Troika"

For what it's worth, I think that open air Bat-convertible belongs more in Riverdale as it looks like Archie's jalopy bouncing off the road. From that "smiley face" chassis, I think it's more likely a repainted "Speed Buggy." I may check out those Matt Wagner books if I can find them free in the li...
