Re: 66 Batman licensing artist revealed

Garcia-Lopez is arguably one of the greatest comic artists still living, and a huge personal favorite. That said, I'm having a hard time picturing his style melding with '66 Batman. Steve Rude or Mike Allred would've seemed a more obvious pick. Anyway, thanks for confirming the existence of Back Iss...

Re: Where Was Gotham?

Based on the surrounding countryside, and the fact that it's always sunny (enough so that the Batmobile has no top!), Gotham is obviously in California. :D

Whoa, is that Nick Cardy's original art for the cover of Batman 252 on your wall there? Sweet!

Re: 1966 Ideal Batman Playset to be reissued. JLA playset to

Well, "in talks" is a long way from officially announced, and even "announced" is a ways from actually happening. How many actors over the years have been "in talks" to play James Bond, for instance? It'll be cool if this comes together, I guess. I might not think so if I had the original and saw th...

Re: Positive thoughts on 3rd Season

I liked a lot of the incidental music in S3, especially in the fight scenes and driving the 'mobile. Also maybe it's just me but I think the fight scenes were better done in general (even if all Batgirl did was kick and hit people with handy objects). As a kid, I didn't even notice the cheap sets. Y...

Re: CAPTAIN ACTION to do BATMAN outfit

Wow. Unless I'm mistaken, this will be the first toy line to score simultaneous Marvel and DC licenses since Mego's Worlds Greatest superheroes line in the 70s!

Re: Penguins monacle0 how does it stay in?

According to this Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monocle, the best monocles were custom-made for the wearer and stayed in with little or no effort. Maybe they sprung for a nice one for Burgess.

Nelson Riddle and "Emergency"

I'm probably the last person in the world to notice this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway. MeTV has started playing "Emergency" in the afternoons here and I often have it on while I'm making dinner for the kids, which means I hear a lot more than I see. This week there was a scene of a dramatic ...

Billy, I am so very, very sorry to hear about Andrew. God bless you for the courage and strength it must be taking to hold yourself and your family together through this whole horrible ordeal. If it helps at all please know you have friends around the country and the world pulling for you and prayin...

Re: Real Name Vs Screen Name?

I date back to the days of "Internet ID's" and "aliases," too, and I guess old habits are hard to break. I tend not to go by my real name (which is David Morefield...hi!) when on-line, maybe because I figure screen names are catchier but also partly because avatars (ie: pictures) tend to go with nam...

Re: Favorite Batmobile?

On screen, there is only one Batmobile that matters. In the comics, too, but it's a different one. I give you the Batmobile of 1950. (Considering my screen name, this should come as no surprise)

Re: Penguins monacle0 how does it stay in?

Back when monocles were in vogue, I gather you just squinted/scrunched your cheek to hold it in. Possibly it helped that they were mostly worn by aristocrats, who usually held their noses high. :-) Usually you saw them attached to a cord, with the other end attached...where?...to a shirt button, may...

Re: Billy Loyd JR sad news

What terrible, terrible news. Billy was a hugely talented and (on this board, anyway, which is the only way I knew him) thoroughly pleasant individual to interact with, and I'll miss his posts. Depression is a devastating thing. Prayers to his family and especially his injured son. Billy, I hope you...

Re: Favorite 1966 Batmobile toy/collectible...

My favorite would have been my bright blue, battery-powered Japanese "tin litho" Batmobile, marketed at the time as "bump and go" (which meant, in practice, that it would go about a foot before spinning around and heading off in another direction for a foot, so it looked like Batman was recreating A...
