Re: TO THE BATPOLES #133: Scott Sebring is here! Holy Bat-cyclopedia!
Scott, great research! Glad I mentioned the convincing sunlight in that scene. I'm curious what you mean by "matte overlay." Is this something that was added post filming?

Re: SCRIPT: THE JOKER'S WILD
Jim, good catch, but remember, Leonard Stadd had a similar deathtrap in his unproduced Joker script, dated Nov. 1, 1965 http://tothebatpoles.libsyn.com/110-the-impossible-crimes-semple-holds-stadds-feet-to-the-fire So it appears Semple AND R. Dozier were 'borrowing' from him. And obviously R. Dozie...

Re: Batman Ratings
Lots of great info here! Thanks everyone. As has been pointed out elsewhere, for an adult in the '60s, Batman was probably a one-note joke, even at its Semplian peak. Those folks lost interest even when the writing was good and Semple was still on board, as we can see in the ratings. In season two, ...

TO THE BATPOLES #132: Women of Season One: Not Just "Poor, Deluded Girls"
https://deconstructingcomics.com/Batpoles/S1women.jpg TV in the '60s was, of course, dominated by male characters. It'd be tough to find a series that would pass the "Bechdel Test." How does Batman fare from a woman's point of view in the year 2020? To help us investigate this question, w...

Re: Batman Ratings
Interesting about the Ring of Wax. Probably a testament to how much of a draw Gorshin was.
Glad to have some hard evidence that Chandell was NOT the highest-rated episode of the entire series! Thanks!

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #129: The Show's Ratings, and Rating "Godzilla"
Gentlemen, great work on the show, I enjoyed it very much! We appreciate the Bob Furmanek (TM) Seal of Approval! Who needs Good Housekeeping? I'm still finding new information in the primary source documents on ratings. In time, I should be able to provide weekly reports on how the show performed i...

Thanks for this. You’re right, the comment on the blog didn’t appear. Sorry about that. It’s Facebook-based, and I’ve found with that system, if you enter the comment first and then log into Facebook, the comment disappears - it’s necessary to log in first and then enter the comment.
