Re: TO THE BATPOLES #129: The Show's Ratings, and Rating "Godzilla"
Tim & Paul--love the behind the scenes stuff. I wonder if Craig took up that 4th season myth (and tweaked it over time) as a means of ego-protection? The longstanding belief was that Batgirl not only failed to be the catalyst for a ratings boost, but that the character was one of the central rea...

Re: First Look - Battinson Revealed
but at this stage of the game, the absolute last character I want to see more of on screen is Batman. By now, he's easily the most over-exposed and least interesting property from either of the two big publishers. Where movies are concerned, Spider-Man says hello. In less than 20 years, there were/...

Re: First Look - Battinson Revealed
I will wait and see the film for myself. I cannot go into theatres basing this (or any recent) Batman on 50+ year old comics or adaptations. Just as Donner's Superman was in no way in the style, image or spirit of the George Reeves show (and thankfully, it was not), or the Wonder Woman movie was not...

Re: Funko!!! 4 inch figs!!!!
The 66 craze looks to have run its course for merchandising. The Funko fail took the wind out of my sails. Mattel was a dud. The one toy company made a bunch of different figures but they looked awful IMO. I agree, and to be honest, much of it was not that good, or companies were making '66 product...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #128: Roast Godzilla
BWH, I take your point about the offensiveness of Ghetto Man, including but not limited to the reasons you bring up here. But I think it's also important to take into account the terribly fine line that African American performers have had to walk when playing roles whites have written "for th...

Re: BREAKING: BURT WARD’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony Set for January
Thanks for the post and photos, Batfanman. Greenway/Dozier was not too concerned with actor safety, as Burt's burnt arm, having him too close to the burning, wrecked car in the pilot (a stuntman should have taken his place for the entire scene, but Dozier being Dozier....), and all of the people Bru...

Poor sculpt and not at all capturing the great Aparo way of illustrating Batman's anatomy.

Re: Anyone Remember Dark Shadows' Willie Loomis?
Karlen was a strong character actor, who never quite lost his New York edge, even as he portrayed characters having nothing to do with that part of the country. I remember him as a TV reporter on the original N.Y.P.D. series from the late 60s, The Sixth Sense, The Picture of Dorian Gray (from Dark S...

Almost tempted to dip my toes into the Herocross waters. I am familiar with the other DC characters and there's just something appealing about it.

Re: Sad day - Dean Jeffries Shop Planned for Demolition
That is sad, but I am not at all surprised with predatory real estate development in California. In a perfect world, the shop should have been bought by someone who loves/collects rare cars (including TV and movie cars) and restored it into some sort of museum. The problem is that outside of the med...

Re: New Movie house has the GH rights!
Sort of unsure about this. It will come down to money, or course: spending on one of the better screenwriters with a track record with this kind of material, and for once, Kato does not have to be based on, or in any way reference Lee. The characters were successful & a major part of pop culture...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #128: Roast Godzilla
I will start by saying Gorshin did not miss a thing. In fact, he did not take a hit to his dignity like others who starred Ghetto Man. There's no excuse for that. Now, i'm sure some have tired to defend Hanna-Barbera by bringing up the diversity characters (Black Vulcan, Apache Chief, El Dorado, et ...

Re: BREAKING: BURT WARD’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony Set for January
I don't know--Greenway had several stunt performers and a couple of actors seriously hurt by Bruce Lee before he was told to calm down / learn stunt performance, and that did not happen overnight. ...and let's not forget the burns Ward suffered (forearm) requiring a bandage seen on screen. In short,...

Re: Adam West NOT Shot Out Of A Cannon???
MattHawes, thank you and your brother for providing personal information about this cannon story. I never really believed it, as only the most irresponsible collection of entertainment groups would risk injury, death and lawsuits by firing some "civilian" out of a cannon. That's not to say...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #127: It’s a “Challenge” Just to Sit Through “Legends”
About "The Challenge" .... Its a Hanna-Barbera production of the 1970s, so entertainment value was a blink-and-you-missed-it affair. With this production, West and Ward contributed to the false perception that the unrelated Dozier series was one long joke, and it did not help that both act...
