Re: 1966 newspaper articles
I love these old clips. Thanks for sharing them. The biggest surprise to me was learning that Burgess Meredith's son was in Tony and the Tigers with Hunt and Tony Sales, but the top bat-surprise was the inclusion of Bette Davis in Dozier's season 2 villain roster. She was hardly the motherly type, a...

Re: Old articles
Thanks for sharing. The writer of that TV Week piece suffered from poor memory (the show was *expanded* to two nights?) and erroneous source material (Joan Crawford, instead of John Crawford, as Bookworm's printer's devil), but the interview with Adam is great. His "Sun-Yat Mars" bit, spoo...

Re: The Sphinx in "The Curse of Tut"
My guess -- and it's only a guess, as I've never watched the movie -- is that the statue is a leftover from Fox's 1963 Egyptian epic, Cleopatra . For what it's worth, despite the Batman script, the statue in Gotham Central Park isn't a sphinx. A sphinx has the body of a lion and the head of a woman,...

Re: Just Played Batman Slots at the Mirage, Las Vegas!
Congratulations! I was across the strip at the Venetian/Palazzo a couple of weeks ago for a conference. I kept a lookout for Batman '66 slot wherever I went, but never wandered into the Mirage. Glad to hear the machine lived up to its theme. And winning $66 seems perfectly fitting!

Babette's nasally delivery reminds me of Miss Adelaide from Guys and Dolls.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!
Hey, MV. My $.02 is a hunch that Warner Home Video will treat the DVD/Blu-Ray release as a deluxe package for die-hard fans, willing to cough up big bucks for a keepsake version of their favorite show, and that they'll use the streaming/download channel (with basically no cost of goods) to reach cas...

Re: Rating the Bat-Traps
Most clever: Not a cliffhanger, but a deathtrap nonetheless: The shrinking infrared heat zones in Mr. Freeze's refrigerated stronghold. (Also a contender for most evil trap, IMHO.) Most evil: Riddler's hot wax dip (and that Riddler and the gang stuck around to watch -- even if it was from another ro...

Re: Possible SPOILERS! Batman '66 comic!
I love this series, and that DC is embracing "our" Batman at last. Cross-marketing isn't always a bad thing. ;) BM_66_Cv12.jpg This may be a whiny thing to mention, but it bugs me that the cover art for issue 12 shows twin jet-flames behind the Batmobile, when we all know there's just a si...

Eli Wallach R.I.P.
The last of the Mr. Freezes has passed away. Eli Wallach had an amazing career, and he will be missed by many.

Shakespeare bust "cameos"?
Judging by this publicity shot for the 1963 Disney feature, "The Misadventures of Merlin Jones," Wayne Manor wasn't the only place in Hollywood with a certain bust of the Bard. (It's possible, I suppose, that this is the bust that'd eventually conceal the batpole switch, but it seems likel...

'66 Batman and "Mad Men"
Part of the fun of Mad Men is its mirror of 60s pop culture. As might be expected for any member of this board, I was hoping there might be a nod to Batman in the episodes set in '66 and '67, at the height of Batmania. If there was one, I missed it. Batman's in good company, though, since Mad Men al...

Re: What did the show invent that wasn't in the comics?
Great topic! I think one of most interesting examples of the show adding stuff that wasn't in the comics concerns the Mad Hatter. The David Wayne character was a very close match to the version of the Hatter featured in comics of the 1950s and early 60s, right down to the red hair and black eyebrows...

Re: Star Quest Robin
Wow. Thanks for uncovering this. Burt's by far the best actor in evidence -- possibly because he's the only native English speaker(?). Co-star Liv Alexander, who evidently produced the thing, is bad in a way that seems to transcend the language barrier -- although that's no doubt a factor. I'm not f...

Re: A possible fourth season of Batman.
I just suggested a character named Princess Python in another thread, with no (conscious) idea such a character actually existed. Wow. Sounds like a great idea to me.
