Re: 45th Anniversary of a Baturday Morning Debut!

I loved those Filmation Batman cartoons-- starring Ted Knight, Ted Knight, Olan Seule, Kasey Kasem and Ted Knight! :) One cool offshoot was their incorporation into Sesame Street segments about safely crossing the street: I recall the Joker ignoring a "Don't Walk" signal and winding up in a bad way....

Hadn't seen it. But here's a link to the book page at Ellison's site. Sounds interesting, to be sure.

Re: Looking For This Image in Hi Res

I recall having a two-color version of that image on a Bat-book cover from the 70s, and I also remember a series of stickers (bubble gum card-sized) that included separate versions of these Batman and Robin figures. Nowadays, the Infantino/Anderson "rooftop shot" of the Dynamic Duo seems far more co...

I enjoyed this, but coming late to the party, it took more than a little scrolling to find the entry. Here's a permalink to the post: http://www.newsfromme.com/2013/09/05/te ... toteboard/

Inspiration for Shame?

The main inspiration for the character of Shame was obviously the Alan Ladd movie Shane , but an obituary I saw today makes me wonder if there also wasn't a more contemporary inspiration, which would have been familiar to Hollywood screenwriters -- and to SoCal BatFans -- during the original run of ...

Re: Batman Behind the Scenes

I love this. I think there was a link to a lower-quality version of this segment on David Sutton's original 1966 Batman fan site. Maybe I just never noticed it before, or perhaps it wasn't legible in that older clip, but I like the "U.S. and Canada Crime Computer" label in the Batcave. Was that used...

Re: Meaning or Reference of Robin's Quote

ITT Corp. still exists, but it's no longer in the phone business; there's no longer an "&" in its name, either, and the letters of its name are no longer initials for anything. In the 1960s, when it was still International Telephone & Telegraph, it was a peer of "Ma Bell," not its precursor: AT&T ha...

Re: Batman beats drugs

In "Marsha, Queen of Diamonds," Batman fights off the effect of a dose of love potion administered by a dart shot from a Cupid statue. Marsha sics her goons on Batman and Robin, and during the ensuing batfight, she reloads Cupid and drugs Robin, who's too inexperienced to resist. Batman then relucta...

Re: Why were the Chandel episodes everyone's favorite?

Aunt Harriet was added to the show as a female "chaperone," to eliminate any impression that the relationship between millionaire and teenage ward was anything but wholesome. (I'd say "platonic," but Plato approved of the kinds of relationships Aunt Harriet was there to prevent.) I think the whole "...

Re: My Personalized Batphone Ringtone

I use the "batspin" sting as my text message alert. The guy sitting next to me on a flight the other day recognized it right away, and said he'd have the Batman theme stuck in his head all day. :)
