Re: Any CHEAP TRICK fans?

Nice job on the covers, and on the lookalike thing, "Rick" especially. Which one are you?

Re: What did the show invent that wasn't in the comics?

Great topic! I think one of most interesting examples of the show adding stuff that wasn't in the comics concerns the Mad Hatter. The David Wayne character was a very close match to the version of the Hatter featured in comics of the 1950s and early 60s, right down to the red hair and black eyebrows...

Re: Star Quest Robin

Wow. Thanks for uncovering this. Burt's by far the best actor in evidence -- possibly because he's the only native English speaker(?). Co-star Liv Alexander, who evidently produced the thing, is bad in a way that seems to transcend the language barrier -- although that's no doubt a factor. I'm not f...

Re: A possible fourth season of Batman.

I just suggested a character named Princess Python in another thread, with no (conscious) idea such a character actually existed. Wow. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Re: Categories of Criminals

Fun question. For starters, can we agree that a moth, even a Killer Moth (whatever that is), is NOT a potent criminal totem? :) Comics have featured a variety of villains with snake-inspired motifs (Batman has battled Copperhead and Kobra; Marvel Comics has a whole Serpent Squad that's fought Spider...

Very cool. That raised grille always looked to me like the sieve from a garlic press. :)

This is fantastic. Out of curiosity, which 3D modeling tool(s) did you use to create this?

Re: Cut scenes from pilot?

Batman didn't mind if selected visitors knew they were in the Batcave, he only wanted to make sure they didn't know how they got there, how to find it again, or how to tell anyone else where it was. Administering batsleep spray before taking someone to the Batcave (and again before taking them away)...

Re: (Pop) Cultural Reference in "Ring of Wax"?

I had forgotten the lines you mentioned, but I managed to find the episode online. Maybe there's something to your theory, but if there is, it went right over my head. My take is that the exchange established Miss Prentiss the librarian as a prim, no-nonsense type -- i.e., as a stereotypical librari...

Re: Batman's utility belt referenced in a comic strip

Yale Stewart is the cartoonist, and the JL8 strip -- which imagines members of the Justice League as having met in elementary school -- is very well-done. This *does* seem to be spoofing the TV show's notion of the utility belt holding anything and everything, but the characterization of Bruce (the ...

1966 Bat-Valentines

This page snarkily presents an assortment of 1966-vintage kiddie Valentine cards. My personal favorite is Zelda - a TV-specific tie-in. Also noteworthy is the card featuring Mr. Freeze, with a drawing of "Mr. Zero" from the comics. The Batcomputer one is fun, too.

Re: Where's the giant reaction to the DVD news?

I kept Googling for a week after Conan's news broke, hoping to see broader coverage, but overall, I was pleased by how much mainstream attention the news got. I think SprangFan's point #1 is probably the most relevant to expaining the lack of fanfare. I bet there'll be good buzz around the releases,...

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!

I think the Borgnine label is a mistake. That looks to me like Tut's Grand Vizier, Don "Red" Barry. He made a career of playing cowboys, but never got into Shame's gang. He did turn up again in Gotham, however, as Black Widow's henchman, Tarantula.

Re: Buy war bonds with Batman!

Wow! Thanks for sharing this. Like a fair number of fellow board members, I watched Batman in its original run, but I have no recollection of this. Do any other "old timers" remember it? Also, don't you think more kids would've signed up if they'd put Batman's picture on the card instead of LBJ's? C...
