Re: Tiny nod to Batman in the movie Flushed Away
The little transitional video accompanied by that cue has long been referred to around here as a "batspin," but I don't know if that was an "official" name used by the production folks. I thought that musical bit was available in the "Bat Works" section of the site, but...

Re: Questions about the show universe
Civilian names are never given for Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler or of course Joker (whose true name is unknown in the comics). Jervis Tetch's name is used over and over in the Mad Hatter episodes; that's the most widely used "true name" for a villain. As High C mentioned, we also Iearn Siren...

Re: Questions about the show universe
1. It was established in the first Penguin episode that Gotham State Penitentiary Warden Crichton has a new policy of letting inmates wear their preferred civilian garb -- but only for a week or two before their parole. In the Joker's first appearance, we see him stage a jailbreak; he's dressed in p...

Isn't there an override option on the censorship bot? Funky Jedi's use of triple-x in this instance is not only entirely innocent, it's a matter of accuracy. It took some reverse-engineering to figure out what was going on -- i.e., what FJ actually typed, and what the censor-bot redacted -- but it w...

Re: The 1966 Batman logo - as unique as it's series
The cool lettering was created for the TV logo, but the underlying image -- bat wings and Batman head -- dates back to the 40s. I was stunned when I first saw this, because the logo looks so "modern" to my eyes. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hNO98WF9Wi8/Uo2CnZxbz2I/AAAAAAACPJE/rvR-1sxd4V0/s160...

Re: Frank Gorshin and Richard Widmark
Operating on the 1966 timeline, Riddler's dad was probably in his prime, but just a little past the age of service, during WWII. So rather than a super-villain, what if Riddler's papa was something even worse: a Nazi fifth columnist and saboteur? As such, he could have trafficked in explosives, knoc...

Re: 45th Anniversary of a Baturday Morning Debut!
I loved those Filmation Batman cartoons-- starring Ted Knight, Ted Knight, Olan Seule, Kasey Kasem and Ted Knight! :) One cool offshoot was their incorporation into Sesame Street segments about safely crossing the street: I recall the Joker ignoring a "Don't Walk" signal and winding up in ...

Hadn't seen it. But here's a link to the book page at Ellison's site. Sounds interesting, to be sure.

I enjoyed this, but coming late to the party, it took more than a little scrolling to find the entry. Here's a permalink to the post: http://www.newsfromme.com/2013/09/05/te ... toteboard/

Inspiration for Shame?
The main inspiration for the character of Shame was obviously the Alan Ladd movie Shane , but an obituary I saw today makes me wonder if there also wasn't a more contemporary inspiration, which would have been familiar to Hollywood screenwriters -- and to SoCal BatFans -- during the original run of ...

Re: Batman Behind the Scenes
I love this. I think there was a link to a lower-quality version of this segment on David Sutton's original 1966 Batman fan site. Maybe I just never noticed it before, or perhaps it wasn't legible in that older clip, but I like the "U.S. and Canada Crime Computer" label in the Batcave. Was...

Re: Meaning or Reference of Robin's Quote
ITT Corp. still exists, but it's no longer in the phone business; there's no longer an "&" in its name, either, and the letters of its name are no longer initials for anything. In the 1960s, when it was still International Telephone & Telegraph, it was a peer of "Ma Bell,"...
