Re: Bat Oxygen Mask

This is cool. Looking at AP's images, it occurred to me for the first time that there's no obvious means of attaching the apparatus to the hero's face. I'm guessing there must've been some kind of tab inside the plastic facemask that the actor bit down on to hold it in place? That would've made it i...

Re: The shirt Burt Ward designed. While Adam West smokes.

Incredible in many ways, but the biggest revelation to me was Burt's "hit record," I've Got Love for my Baby. Once again, YouTube delivers . Kind of gives the lie to the oft-quoted bit in "My Life in Tights" about Burt's experience with Frank Zappa and the Mothers, and how "...

What's interesting, if you follow the link at the bottom of the Talia article, is that Adams also cites Lee as a visual influence on his Batman.

Re: Talia in the 60's

Here's a timely take on casting Talia by 13th Dimension blogger Dan Greenfield. It even riffs on the Christopher Lee-as-Ra's al-Ghul idea!

Re: Talia in the 60's

I recall a thread on this topic in a long-ago iteration of the board. My nominee then was Lana Wood, Natalie Wood's kid sister. Arlene Martel is a great choice, though.

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs

The jailbreak villains categorically weren't played by the original actors. This is easily confirmed by freeze-framing the relevant scenes, but even in full motion, it's pretty easy to tell by focusing closely on, say, Egghead or King Tut, that the players are stand-ins. There has been a fair amount...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs

I always figured the batphones in the study, batcave and batmobile were all "extensions" of the same line, and that they all rang at the same time whenever the GCPD called. So why, some might ask, wasn't there a double-beep when the hotline rang in the batcave and batmobile at the same tim...

I love that Riddler story, "When is a door?" Neil Gaiman, right?

Re: Animated 66 Batman Movie: Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders

I watched my Blu-Ray last night, and noticed something funny that I missed in the Fathom screening: The Pow! Splat! sound effects in the early batfights are superimposed over the action, like they were in season 1 of the series, but those in the later fight sequences are full-frame, against solid-co...

Re: Leslie Thomas Production Art at VCU

I remember seeing the production art in that old thread, but I don't recall the image featured in the Antiques Roadshow segment, of a hot time at Ye Olde Benbow Tavern. What a hoot! There's obviously no scene comparable to that in the film (I haven't watched the feature in a year or two, but I don't...

Re: ***SPOILERS*** ROTCC Discussion

Fitzsimmons (for Charles?) Adam pronounced it "FitzSimons," so I'm pretty sure it was intended as a salute to Charlie, and that extra "m" snuck in by mistake along the way. I didn't spot a Horwitz shout-out, but I won't be watching it a second time until my Blu-Ray gets here in ...

Re: ***SPOILERS*** ROTCC Discussion

It was in the script, Quill, but they ultimately couldn't get the rights to the song. Too bad. So they substituted it with the on-stage Batdance while the rogues gallery fought the Batmen. Thanks for the info, Wally! I knew from the trailer that the hostess was Miranda Moore, but only saw the name ...

Re: ***SPOILERS*** ROTCC Discussion

Just wondering why in the opening credits the flip thru the comic books show the language to be in Latin? Despite its Latin content -- it's based on a work by Cicero that's scrambled into nonsense -- it's called "Greeked" text. Creative directors and graphic designers use it as filler in ...
