Re: Real Names

The Green Hornet's true identity--Britt Reid--was named a few times during the crossover. Kato was mentioned as well, though the episode's writer (Charles Hoffman) mistakenly had Batman use it as if it was his name while in costume . Maybe Batman remembered the introduction GH made ("my aide, Kato"...

Re: Real Names

Black Widow's first name was never mentioned, but she called herself "Mrs. Max Black (widow)." And Sandman was of course Dr. Somnambula, but his first name was never given either.

Re: "New Look" vs Tv Show

I remember as a kid watching the (Black Widow?) episode where the GCPD puts out an APB on Batman and describes him as wearing "purple cape and tights". I remember thinking, "Come again? Purple???" I had a similar reaction after looking up "mauve" in the dictionary, in an effort to understand the ti...

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

Several changes were made to the script between Carr's final polish and production. All were improvements, in my view, and I'm guessing Lorenzo Semple Jr. was responsible for the bulk of them: Gotham Bakery becomes Mother Gotham's Bakery. Just the right touch of commercial fake-folksiness. "Whipped ...

Re: Script: THE SILENT FILM CAPERS, by Dick Carr

I love this stuff! The scene of the pie fight and payroll plunder evidently got named Mother Gotham's Bakery at some point after these drafts were completed, but an annotator (Howie Horwitz?) suggests in a note on Draft 1 that it be described as a large commercial chain, "like Helms." SoCal board me...

Saw an autograph by Jane personalized "To Keith" on evilbay but passed.
It would've made a lot more sense in your collection than it would have in mine! :)

Re: On the set of "Batman"

The presence of Jane Wald (Jill) indicates this was during production of The Joker Trumps An Ace/Batman Sets The Pace. Lewis, Shawn and Stevens were shooting "Way, Way Out" (a space race spoof that bombed) elsewhere at Fox. Per Wikipedia, production on Way, Way Out ran from late January through Marc...

Re: BAT elsewhere

I think the headline translates more or less as "Batman doesn't have suicidal tendencies."

Holy death wish! Where'd that come from?

Re: Batman TV Soundtrack Album Promotional Mobile Display

That's a really great piece. I'd love it for my music room, too. No one bothered to flop Robin's "R" when they flipped the figure from the Jan & Dean cover. That'd be such a cinch today with Photoshop, but back then it must've been too labor-intensive. You're right about the size, @Szabol. Per the e...

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

Riddler had a mother-in-law? Holy husbandry! I'm surprised Batman didn't tell the Prince of Puzzlers his gag would work better if it had been about cake, not cookies: "Cake is made from batter, Riddler, but cookies come from dough — and if your wife came from dough, maybe you wouldn't be an arch cri...

Re: The (Crossword) Puzzles Are Coming

What is this thing you call a "newspaper?" It's mostly a fond memory for me. I did a few years in the trenches as a reporter and copyeditor. The Courant is a husk of what it once was, and the days of analog news sure seem to be numbered. Batman can still fool crooks by planting phony stories on Twi...

The (Crossword) Puzzles Are Coming

. . . SPOILER ALERT FOR TODAY'S WASHINGTON POST/L.A. TIMES CROSSWORD (7/27/2018) . . . . Our local newspaper, the Hartford Courant, features the crossword puzzle from the Washington Post/L.A. Times Syndicate , and I've gotten into the habit of solving it online rather than on paper. (It's easier to ...

Re: 1:18 Batmobile and Deathmobile

Look behind the Batman figure in the first pic in this 13th Dimension post. I don't know if it's the original Deathmobile, but the collection includes many true artifacts (including a Barris Batmobile), so it definitely could be.

Board member Dan Greenfield can probably shed light on this.

Re: '66 movie: Sterling Holloway and other tidbits

Facebook member "The Crimson Collector" posted images of the press kit for the Batman feature film, and it lists Sterling Holloway in the cast.

Those production decisions evidently were happening too fast for the publicity department to keep up.
