Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!

There will come a time where physical media is phased out. Right now, with copyright law being insanely lopsided in favor of moneyed interests, digital downloads and streaming still aren't viable enough to take over. But at some point you will see the end of physical media. Just not in the near-futu...

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!

But is this what the director and producer intended ? The pilot is not supposed to be super dark and saturated, especially when Batman enters the night club. Yes, it's essentially what was originally intended. You may like the faded, washed-out syndication prints better, but they do not have greate...

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!

This isn't directed any specific board member, but I'm going to say it : Hi Diddle Riddle.jpg There's no way I will buy a transfer that looks like that, with the dark murky look and colors. The costume yes, looks correct, but there are so many other things that don't look right. It's wrong. This is...

Re: Trailer for the official Complete Series

I'm surprised by how dark and shadowy the footage is. The syndication prints must have been insanely washed out, because the remastered footage is like watching a completely different show. Lots of low lighting and heavy color saturation, none of which I've ever seen before. It's going to be a real ...

I now own a Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez Batman (Motor City Con)

Motor City Comic Con was this past weekend, and I ended up with a pretty impressive lineup of art. One piece of art in particular is very appropriate to this forum, and I have a fun story to tell about it. Anyway, here's what I got: Man of Grease Superman (based on a fanfic comedy series I've been w...

The first FLASH teaser has arrived

And if this clip is any indication, this is going to be a pretty lighthearted breezy take on the character: [BBvideo 425,350]http://youtu.be/rnXsnR-2AvU[/BBvideo] Gotta say, the costume looks pretty good in motion. The contrasting light and dark reds look really rich and saturated. I'm getting a goo...

Re: First Look at the New Batman

Didn't we have enough Frank Miller-flavored junk in the Nolan films? Nolan gave us Miller's Tankmobile and anti-Superman armor (albeit without Superman actually showing up), to say nothing of giving us Miller's unlikable jerk version of Batman. Now we're getting another tank-like Batmobile and Mille...

Re: Why wasn't there more Backstory for Dick/Robin?

Neither the comics nor the TV series of the 60s dwelt on back stories. When you think about it for young boys who saw their parents murdered Bruce and Dick grew up pretty well adjusted. I suppose they were the ideal. Coming out of tragedy and becoming better men for it. After the 60's , I guess the...

Re: A couple Batman art pieces colored by Gerry Turnbull

Another recent color job, this time over a black and white digital commission by Disney artist Brianna Garcia: http://imageshack.com/a/img845/1737/xn3v.jpg As you can guess, my tendency is to commission Batman and Catwoman together 99% of the time. I seldom get anything where it's just one or the ot...

The Little Mermaid does GREASE (original Disney art)

I was fortunate enough to commission Disney artist James Silvani thru his Tumblr page back in March. He's mostly known for drawing the Darkwing Duck comic books, but he specializes in mashup commissions where the Disney characters do riffs on other franchises. So me being me, I went down that route ...

A couple Batman art pieces colored by Gerry Turnbull

I recently had a couple of my art pieces colored by a fellow art collector, Gerry Turnbull. His stock-in-trade is coloring art to look like vintage comics, even adding dot-print patterns, logos, and fake wear and tear as he sees fit. He did a Superman piece for me some time back, and so I went back ...

Re: World's Finest Dance Party, an art piece by Steven Butle

That is great, I love it!! It should probably be mentioned that Catwoman ended up being the showstopper of the piece. Other people who've seen this art -- comic book pros and fans alike -- immediately gravitate to Selina because of all the detail Butler lavished on her. And I'd be lying if I said m...

New set image of the suit. There's gold accents on his boots after all: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1554424_10151898784291991_500005254_n.jpg Not a bad way to go. Full gold boots would be too much. But this? I think it's a good compromise. And I'm really liking the use ...

Re: A possible fourth season of Batman.

Disagree for two reasons, 1. the fact that Selina never appeared in the show. Newmar was Catwoman 24/7/365 with no alter ego, so the duality of Bruce/Bats and Selina/CW already wasn't there. Plus, the way it was written, it came off more as a junior-high crush than a true 'romance.' I much preferre...

Re: Wanna see the new Flash? (from the CW series)

The Shipp costume was a two-man job: the late Dave Stevens ( The Rocketeer ) designing it and Robert Short fabricating it. While the Keaton Batsuit was an obvious influence, let's not forget Shipp was a big guy and they had to accommodate his size. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. And I recall...
