Re: A possible fourth season of Batman.

I think for a fourth season of the show, priority one would have to be undoing the derailment the show suffered in Season Three. It went so far into the trash bin that before I could even think of adding new villains and gadgets, I'd want to get the show back up on its feet proper: - go back to two ...

Re: Wanna see the new Flash? (from the CW series)

Here's the mask from the side. Instead of the old Hermes wings, the gold accents are miniature Flash logos: http://cdn.abclocal.go.com/images/otrc/2010/photos/9448783_600x338.jpg Again, one of those changes that's ultimately for the best. The wings, while symbolic, ultimately don't fit well with the...

Wanna see the new Flash? (from the CW series)

24 years after John Wesley Shipp donned red and gold, the CW's bringing us Grant Gustin as the new Scarlet Speedster. And here he is in all his glory: http://www.eonline.com/eol_images/Entire_Site/2014211/rs_635x1053-140311083252-634-the-flash.ls.31114_copy.jpg I'm going to come right out and say it...

Re: Would you have been a Bat-fan if the series had never ai

Who would have been next in line would have depended on whether or not Batman was still being published at the time. If things had taken a wrong turn and the Batman franchise had gone under, it almost certainly would have been another DC character. Again, too many variables for me to concretely say ...

World's Finest Dance Party, an art piece by Steven Butler

I actually got this back in December, but for whatever reason never thought to share it here. So if you'll indulge me, I'd like to rectify that now. Steven Butler is an artist whose credits include Web of Spider-Man (the first half of the 1990s "Clone Saga"), Ultraforce , Silver Sable , Archie , var...

Re: Would you have been a Bat-fan if the series had never ai

I think it depends purely on whether or not Batman, the character, would still have been in play without the show. As has been said, the comics were at risk of cancellation prior to the "New Look" era, and it's questionable if the "New Look" era alone could have revived the franchise. Batman could h...

Re: Why the batman needs a cape?

I guess that Superman needs cape because he will look handsome when he is flying, but Batman can not fly, why does he need the cape? In most incarnations of Superman, the cape is part of standard Kryptonian clothing, or at least Krypton's ceremonial garb. It has zip-zero-zilch with wanting to look ...

Re: Why they aren't using photos on the merchandise?

To be fair, there is another reason to use fresh artwork on the 1966 merchandise...we're getting brand-new Batman art from one of DC's best-loved artists of the early 1980s, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez. He's been doing DC's merchandising art for decades (to the point where Super Friends abandoned Alex To...

Green Hornet, as drawn by Ethan Van Sciver

I posted in the other topics forum about my misadventures at Detroit Fanfare this weekend and the terrific Norm Breyfogle Kirk sketch I got. Well, he wasn't the only '60s TV hero I got art of at the show. I also had the opportunity to get a sketch from Ethan Van Sciver, of Green Lantern fame. This w...

Captain Kirk, drawn by a classic Batman artist!

This past weekend, five minutes from my house, Detroit Fanfare held its fourth annual comic con. And as always, I set about getting original sketches for my art collection. This year was a case of every artist drawing a character for the very first time: Jamal Igle ( Supergirl ) drew James Bond for ...

Re: Batman and Catwoman: an art commission by Tom Grummett

Guys! Does anyone know if Mr. Grummett or the owner of the original art, can put out autographed prints or copies of that incredible piece of work? JThree carolyn3@midco.net Being the owner of these Grummett commissions...no, I couldn't. Too much legal red tape for that to be possible. That, and fo...

Re: New commission: Batman and Catwoman do DIRTY DANCING!

I just met Mr. Acosta a few hours ago at a comic shop art show to pick up the art. There's going to be a digital color version of this art available as a print for sale at conventions or thru his website. So I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on when that's coming along. By the way, here's some of...

New commission: Batman and Catwoman do DIRTY DANCING!

Once more, I've indulged in my art collecting hobby. This time around, it's DC's First Couple doing a riff on one of the most beloved movies of the 1980s. Dave Acosta's a local artist who frequents Motor City Comic Con and Detroit Fanfare. He's done work for Image Comics, Monkeybrain, and Markosia, ...

Re: BREAKING: Ben Affleck is Batman

IMHO, DC/WB have proven that they don't like the comic fans, don't care about the comic fans and will run roughshod over the legends, mythos, and their images whenever it suits them. While I'm no fan of the way WB/DC have treated the characters in the last 25-odd years, what reason do they have to ...

Re: BREAKING: Ben Affleck is Batman

People blame Frank Miller for this "darker" Batman, but if you haven't realized, it was actually Denny O'Neil and Neil Adams who revamped Batman back in the early 70's, but I don't hear anyone screaming for their heads! The editors at DC wanted them to revamp the character back to his brooding and ...
