Re: BREAKING: Ben Affleck is Batman

I don't think Affleck's voice is any less Batman-like than Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, or Olan Soule (or, for that matter, the various guys who played Batman on radio). The deep, almost booming sound really began with Adam West. As far as his persona goes...again, I think he fits with the classic, ...

BREAKING: Ben Affleck is Batman

Fresh off the WB publicity rolls for the World's Finest movie: http://movies.yahoo.com/news/ben-affleck-set-play-batman-man-steel-sequel-011253917.html While I have zero faith in WB to make a decent comic book movie...I like the choice of Affleck. He's got the look, he's got the acting chops, he's g...

Re: Batman and Catwoman: an art commission by Tom Grummett

My God, that artwork is gorgeous! ~Heather There's more where that comes from, as I have a mini-theme in my art collection of Batman and Catwoman together: http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=129414 It's actually pretty rare that I get Batman by himself. Usually when I commission Batma...

Re: Batman and Catwoman: an art commission by Tom Grummett

I've actually gotten requests to ink these drawings on and off. Some inkers want to do it right over the pencils, others want to ink over bluelines (specialized pencil scans made for comic book production). I haven't decided if I want to do either yet. If I do get these inked, I'd want it done by in...

Batman and Catwoman: an art commission by Tom Grummett

I've been fortunate enough to commission legendary DC/Marvel artist Tom Grummett thrice courtesy of his representatives on Statue Forum. For those of you unfamiliar with his work, Grummett was DC's go-to guy during the bulk of the '90s, working for nearly a decade on the various Superman books, laun...

Re: Why the Black Suit?

I think a more practical reason to not use gray and blue in live-action boils down to special effects necessity. Yes, you could shoot Batman against greenscreen in solo scenes, but what happens when you have him in the same FX shots with Robin, the Joker, the Riddler, Poison Ivy, or Killer Croc -- c...

Re: Batman/Superman team up movie

So since Man of Steel was flop suey, critically panned, and almost universally hated by the fandom, their next move is to make a sequel with another Frank Miller-style Batman guest-starring? As if Nolan didn't cram enough of that Batman down our throats as it was? And as if they even have an audienc...

Re: Man of Steel Movie!!!

And if that hard "choice" Superman had to make near the end of the movie had been earlier in the film I would have gotten up and walked out! Talk about spitting all over a legacy! It's not "spitting all over a legacy" when one realizes Superman's killed or caused death numerous times over the cours...

Re: Soft Focus - what idiot came up with this idea

There was a cinematographer named Geoffrey Unsworth who did nothing but soft-focus camerawork on every film he did. Not close-ups of certain actors. Not specific scenes where it needed foggy effects or a dreamlike feel. He would shoot an entire movie in soft focus start to finish. Even more, he woul...

Re: New Man of Steel Trailer

The only Superman costume that I would consider an eyesore was the sloppy, incompetently designed Dean Cain suit (or suits -- they had three different versions) from Lois & Clark . Even by convention cosplay standards, that was a poorly made, poorly executed costume. This costume, while stylized, lo...

"They bled out the color and the charm" I can't speak to the "charm," but the Supersuit for this movie is extremely colorful: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/kingkrypton/407120_10151201722975581_868645580_22632671_1982924860_n_zps0dc1c47b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/kingkrypto...

Re: Just watched the Dark knight returns Pt 1

I am looking forward to getting this myself! Something to consider: That Carrie Kelley, who is the Robin in this production, may well have been based on Molly from the 1966 Batman series. I find that extremely, extremely unlikely, as Frank Miller hates the 1966 series with a vengeance. He even blam...
