Every step along the way is taken with the care and safety of the original in mind.
That is why I am making a copy of it to modify rather than dig in on the original which is what I think they did to create the Wayne Manor bust.

Re: The Shakespeare Bust is about to give up it's secrets!
Back to the bust! I got distracted by a phone calling! So I had to do some research to know what I could coat the porous bisque porcelain with to keep the silicone mold rubber from grabbing but could be removed so it retains it's beautiful finish . I hope I got it right! To make the temporary mold e...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Thanks Guys!
Lou, I'm taking it to a local electrician to talk to him about wiring and lighting.
He deals with vintage pieces and is also game for new projects!
I know I need a lot of light from my photo flood lamp experiment...
Stay tuned!

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
I thought red primer was appropriate.
I wouldn't go any higher with it for the Commissioners phone.
A spot here or there to buff but overall I think it's done...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Well I did a test and I can use Bondo after all. Saves me a step! After seeing it like this , I think this will be a nice tall boy Commissioner Gordon phone height. I was thinking it may have been a bit short but now, I'm not so sure. My thought was to go high and cut them down to the client desired...

Re: Actual color of Gordon's Batphone
Here are some shots from the DVDs. The sharp edges say "cast" to me. Vacuform would be more rounded. The light shows fiberglass matte texture. The last shot shows that seam line on the hand piece going along the seam where the ear and mouth piece would come unscrewed.. It also shows the da...

Re: Actual color of Gordon's Batphone
Yep, both the hand piece and the phone body were made in the prop shop. You can see the curved seam lines where the grip goes into the ear and mouth pieces and no seams where the caps would otherwise screw off... From what I can see it looks like they started with translucent red pigment in the cast...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
So I got curious and took a piece of red WW fabric and stuck it inside a shell I had here and put them both on top of a photoflood lamp...
Can't wait to see what the translucent red resin pigment will look like but this shows show accurate fiberglass strands!

Makes me wonder if the retrofit that center circle over the former raised open circle...
The more I see this the more happy I am with the base phone I have...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Perfect! It's like the ascent of man. I was talking with Scott and the original red button completely took me by surprise! Forgot all about it. The raised circle is an air bubble trap waiting to happen so I'm glad they went to a raised flat area. I just can't wait to cast one up in that translucent ...

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Got the blocks attached and found a fantastic filler for the center push button area.
One wrinkle is that I can't use Bondo for the extended base.
This predates the modern phone cases and the plastic is damaged by the solvent in it.
I'll have to use clay and then bodyshop the casting...
