Re: Other Great 60s Shows...

"Jonny Quest was a prime time series ..when they censored the episodes to show on Saturday mornings ..they lost most of the footage ..the DVDS were just the cut up versions (Dr. Quest used a gun in a lot of episodes ...in the censored version of the series ,it was only once)" Rumor has it that WB is...

Other Great 60s Shows...

I don't think there is a better decade for great TV than the 1960s. I've been watching some great old shows while I work on my latest project. Dare I say some of these shows I like better than Batman--? Okay, I just said it. Shows; The Avengers (Steed and Mrs Peel) Lost in Space The Monkees The Muns...

Re: 13 QUICK THOUGHTS on the Greatness of YVONNE CRAIG

She's the best part of the third season, no question about it. While I thought Yvonne was a kind and really wonderfully genuine person, I didn't like how the character was handled. It would have been so much better if she'd been more of a Mrs Peel type, someone who took no nonsense when it came to f...

Re: Twilight actor may be next screen Batman

I don't care-- I haven't liked any of the rubber suit versions of Batman although I really dug Heath Ledger's Joker. Just because they make a Batman movie doesn't mean I have to watch it. It's interesting when you look at the patterns; an actor is cast and the internet goes crazy, then the movie com...

Re: Where is Gotham City

In the earliest Batman appearances in Detective Comics he is in New York City, I've always assumed it just became Gotham City.

Re: Vintage Pin Buttons/Badges

I've seen that pin over and over again through the years-- I've always thought it was from the 70s. There was a yellow version that came out for the '89 film but this one I saw earlier as a kid. It's not rare but it is vintage. It's also not authorized which is why it says Bat Pin and not Batman and...

Re: 1977 Batman Wrist Shooting Grappling Hook Toy

The ad art is by the Joe Kubert school-- might be Kubert himself-- that's great stuff.
The card art is by Ernie Chan one of the Batman artists of the day-- which is pretty cool in itself, they don't often use the current artists for marketing it's usually a house style.

Re: The Latest Batman Item You've Acquired?

Great model, he did a great job on it, Keith. Chuck-- There are a lot of great items from the original '66 Batmania-- the push puppet, the Marx Figure, the Ideal Figures, the belt, but I think the Helmet is the best of the lot. I'll never part with mine and it looks like you got one in nice shape too!

Re: Bringing the Bat Boat in line with the Batmobile: The Aqua Bat

It's pretty sharp-- I don't know how much time was put into the development of the Batboat since it was for the movie, but this wouldn't have filmed well on the water-- it would have virtually disappeared which is why you have bright vibrant colors on the real thing. Personally, I'm a traditionalist...

Re: 100 years of Zorro in 2019

As a kid Zorro was my favorite, Lou-- I think he even passed Batman for a time. The 1975 movie with Alain Delon was my favorite as a kid, today I'd probably go with the serial Zorro's Fighting Legion. I have the Guy Williams series and it's good but slightly kiddie oriented (as would be expected). I...

Re: Fans of The Shadow?

SprangFan and I are brothers from another mother. The Spider was indeed The Shadow on steroids. By the third issue of his pulp series there would have been no one left in New York City because the populace had been wiped out. The only thing I didn't like about The Spider was his disguise-- on the co...

Re: Fans of The Shadow?

I've always been intrigued by the shadow, but never have read any of the pulp stories...this thread might inspire me to do so! Start with the early ones-- in fact I'd go with THE LIVING SHADOW which is the first story. Around the first 12-15 stories have loose connections to each other as agents co...

Batman owes a great deal to this pulp character and the very first Batman story from Detective Comics #27 was a direct riff of an earlier S...

Re: New packaging for the Batmobile snap kit

I have the previous release, wifey put it together for me-- she loves model kits. I liked the old packaging, I like this packaging, but I don't like when they do this. It's like when a comic collection gets re-released with a new cover-- you don't know if you have it and now you have two copies of s...
