Re: TO THE BATPOLES #121: Send Off the Clown (with Ken Holtzhouser!)

I've got to admit, I always enjoyed this one. Maybe I'm not to hard to please. Anyway, the epidote did spawn a bit of merchandising. https://www.80stees.com/products/the-joker-ive-thrilled-many-a-woman-batman-t-shirt I'm glad you commented on it, because I always thought the complete line with the &...

Hi JB, A word of warning....Pasko's letters are always pretty negative. I'm glad I didn't read them until after I had read his Superman work, because seeing how acidic his letters were might would have prevented me from enjoying his Superman stories. Pasko co-created Master Jailer. OK, this is a Bat...

The Martin Pasko that you mentioned went on to be a Superman writer during the bronze age. He also wrote an episode of Batman : The Animated Series. As you read through the letters pages, you will notice several future professionals: Mike W. Barr, Alan Brennert, Pasko, Klaus Janson and Doug Moench....

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #120: Can Superman solve "Batman's Great Mystery"?

I have a CD set of some of the Superman/Batman team-ups on the radio. Before your show, I hadn't noticed, but I think Ronald Liss portrayed Robin on the 1960s Batman records

Does anyone else think the voices sound the same?

Don't give up on Robbins just yet, JB. His best writing is still ahead of you. I think Robbins had a harder time adapting to the "big change" since he had been writing before it took place. I think this is one of his worst stories (If the Coffin Fits, Wear It before the big change was the ...

Re: BAT 77 - Death Casts The Deciding Vote (Batman #219)

I like my comics for escapism, so I'm glad that Robbins didn't delve into politics too much. If there is going to be a politician I would rather it just be a crook (which most of them are, regardless of party. That said there may be good people on both sides of the aisle, too) with no mention of the...

Re: BAT 77 - The Secret of the Waiting Graves (Detective #395)

Thanks, Gothos Mansion and SprangFan for the commentary. I'll be weighing in when I do my next recording, which will be for "Paint a Picture of Peril" - the next Adams-drawn issue, so it'll be right on-topic. I only have access to the redone version from the Illustrated book, so sadly no ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #119: Eureka! Is “Mummy’s Uncle” our favorite Season Three episode?

Vetri had an odd career. She already had racked up a lot of credits before posing for Playboy in 1967. Her exotic beauty led to many ethnic-type roles as Native Americans, Hispanics, Gypsies (on Hogan's Heroes with Cliff Osmond as her brother), even once as a Hawaiian. As one of the items provided ...

Re: BAT 77 - The Secret of the Waiting Graves (Detective #395)

By progressing, I meant that I thought he improved on the original issues. Adams himself admitted that in his first World's Finest, Batman looked just like any other super hero. He was right. I'm not saying I don't love the issue, because I do. As he progressed, his Batman took on more of a darker l...

Re: BAT 77 - The Secret of the Waiting Graves (Detective #395)

Hi JB, If you're not as familiar with the bronze age... I don't mind the "clunky" expository dialogue...remember, back then, writers only had 14-25 pages to get their story told. I would rather they keep the plot moving. Now days, with the decompressed story telling, Batman would probably ...
