Re: SDCC 2023

That Ross image is several years old now. I used it as wallpaper on my old phone. It's likely a commission. If he's really "66 Superman," then he's Bob Holiday from the stage musical. That would be another first for an action figure. But fun. https://assets.playbill.com/editorial/3de5cfeb8...

Re: SDCC 2023

I have no idea what rights belong to whom, but my impression was always that there was no particular desire on the part of DC/Warner to market George's Superman, at least for the last 50 years or so and maybe never. In the 50s and 60s the thinking seemed to be that it was the character and not the a...

Re: SDCC 2023

Imagine those who don’t know who George Reeves was being asked about Errol Flynn. I don't have to imagine it. I had this conversation with a student worker at my office, trying to explain where a coworker got his name: ME: He was named after Errol Flynn. STUDENT: Who's Errol Flynn? ME: Well, okay, ...

Re: SDCC 2023

I can't find any images of George Reeves' Superman drawn by Mike Allred. There's plenty of Allred Superman images, including his latest "Superman: The Space Age" mini-series, but no Reeves. So is the MacFarlane toy contract written in such a way that they're limited to interpretations of &...

Re: SDCC 2023

I don't blame you, it's my most hated image of Batman with the possible exception of that much-memed Curt Swan drawing of Batman slapping Robin. "Knightfall" was my jumping off point for Batman comics after decades of collecting. I finished the story, then sold off all of it so my collecti...

Re: SDCC 2023

Anyway that glaring mid-torso articulation cut should make it easy to recreate the broken back effect.

Re: Flash movie cuts Joker and Penguin

I get the need to trim movies to a reasonable run time, and I get the "why" (more showings per day, though that's less of an issue in this era of the multiplex). What I don't get is how you can end up with not minutes to trim, but *hours.* It's hard to imagine a filmmaker being given a bot...

Re: Flash movie cuts Joker and Penguin

I'm constantly amazed at stories of films that end up hours too long and have to be trimmed down by half or more to be shown in theaters. Just how incompetent would you have to be at planning in order to end up wasting that much time, money and film? No wonder the budgets on these things are so big....

Re: Bucket list item

Sweet! I've always wished for one of those myself. The creak of a spinner rack in motion transports me to another time and place as surely as the "Vwoorp, Vwoorp!" of a Tardis. I can still smell the grilled cheese sandwiches at Marshall's Drug Store in Urbana, VA. I am contemplating coveri...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs

Even with "the works" any pizza has got to be a fraction the cost of a 20-foot-tall wooden catapult, or a rocket with handlebars. The real expense comes with the delivery charge and driver gratuity, since he lives in the middle of the desert. But on the upside, no matter how long it takes ...
