Re: Batman at the Boxoffice

Dozier did not cave in to Adam's demands. Adam got $100,000 for the feature film, but certainly no second film out of it.

Burt was paid $35,000.

Wow, there you go. So apparently they were looking at it as a mid-season replacement before the movie. Good research, again, Bob!

Re: Batman at the Boxoffice

Bob, if someone can't accept the truth (even if it's painful), the problem lies in their hands--not in yours as the messenger. On to the question posed by epaddon: "It again has me wondering if it was a bad idea to have done the film to begin with." Wasn't the point of making the movie to...

Re: The 4th Season NBC Myth

While Bat-merchandise was selling at a fever pitch, audiences were cooling to the Caped Crusader. The BATMAN feature premiered in Texas on July 30, 1966 and opened nationwide in August. According to Boxoffice magazine, the movie only performed slightly above average in twenty key cities. With a 100...

Re: ABC Network Summer Reruns and Bumper Mystery

My pleasure and I"m happy to share the information. Now that we've busted the myth about the Liberace episode, here's another I'd like to tackle: The report that NBC was interested in a 4th season but the sets had been taken down. I can find no mention of this in Variety. Does anyone know when...

Re: ROBIN ROOTERS ???????

They are celebrating the heyday of the series, not the decline. Well, if you don't mind me saying so...that's just silly. The series as a whole is being celebrated, not specific eras. If what you say is true, they wouldn't have even bothered putting the second or third seasons on the set at all. I ...

Re: ROBIN ROOTERS ???????

I'll admit I was dismayed that so much of the focus in the extras was on Adam. Don't get me wrong, I think Adam is terrific and always will be my favorite Batman, and he deserves so much credit for bringing the character to life. With that said, it was a team effort. I'm fine with Adam taking a vict...

Re: A Tale of Three Kitties or Why the Various Catwomen?

According to Variety, MG wrapped sometime in October. I believe the location stuff wrapped in June. Soon-to-be-famous George Lucas, then a fledgling filmmaker, did a short on the Mackenna's production called 6-18-67. I believe that was the day they finished location filming in the desert. And remem...

Re: A Tale of Three Kitties or Why the Various Catwomen?

Appreciate the clarification on Julie taking the film role in Italy. I guess the only remaining unknown variable is when she committed to doing that project. I wouldn't be all that surprised if the idea of doing something overseas appealed to her more than coming back to what might have seemed like...

Re: I don't want to be like Jerry Seinfeld...

[ There's actually an easier explaination then what you've written above. The show was just fun. Lighten up and enjoy the quirkiness. You act like they were filming Ben-Hur or Citizen Kane every week. Oh, please. This is *not* treating Batman like Ben-Hur and you know it. It's simply pointing out w...

Re: I don't want to be like Jerry Seinfeld...

Suspensiom of disbelief is the technical term for all things mentioned like this in Sci Fi etc...In our words, "because then we'd have no show." John Some of us believe the show needed more internal logic. 'Suspension of disbelief' doesn't cover every dumb thing the writers asked the audi...

Re: I don't want to be like Jerry Seinfeld...

In that case though, the problem should have been avoided. CW should have been given a reason for not doing that, because when the conceit of trying to discover Batman's ID is used for other villains, you're not playing fair to the rules of the show as they've already been established if a characte...
