Re: Topps trading cards and Life cover homage

Definitely some similarities there but I'm going to chalk it up to coincidence rather than swipe-- the angle of the upper body is different. I'm sure Bob Powell and Saunders had some pre release photos for reference, but I'm pretty sure the Life photo was taken after the show hit the air. I remember...

Re: Zowie new 1960s Batman history book

I highly recommend TwoMorrows Publishing-- always high quality.
Here's a link to order (July release)

ZOWIE BOOK

If you order a print copy of the book they include a PDF copy too. Always a nice perk.

Another NEAT-O item! I wish I shared your optimism for release date, if they haven't even officially announced it yet I'm thinking 2025 at the earliest.

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

I remember that- Robin was substantially larger than Batman-- it made playing with the figures outside of the car kind of silly. There are a lot of us here that refuse to use FB, so it's certainly appreciated that folks like you re-post info for us!

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

I'm a Corgi Club Member-- that's where I buy from-- but I don't do Facebook. So for those of you who don't either, and I know it's a few of you-- you can still join the club and not have to resort to FB.

Re: New 3D printer tech demo model

Amazing, I've been close to jumping on the 3D boat but I literally have zero free time and a stack of items I've committed to when I have time. But this is beautiful!

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

You must get a deal if you sign up as a member (FREE) because I just looked at my order history from Corgi USA and I paid $32 for a Silver Bond Car and $38 for a Gold One over the course of a few months. Personally I don't care what the price is, to be able to get a MINT in box one for under $100? S...

Yours is a million times better, Randy-- but I still dislike the concept.
I'm with Lou-- no more rubber suited black batmen!

Re: Updated 1966 Batman cowl by HS

Jan Kemp looked at the serials when he did Adam's cowl-- and it's as functional as it is beautiful. The modern choice to go rubber was to match the fake muscles in the Keaton suit. Totally impractical and clumsy. It seems like the go-to choice for an entire generation. It is important to note that I...

Re: Updated 1966 Batman cowl by HS

Is HS a company or a customizer? I'm not too fond of the idea of of taking one of the best cowl designs and implementing one of the worst elements of the modern designs (rubber) and putting them together-- even though it doesn't look like Adam's cowl (ears are all wrong, face is all wrong) it does l...

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

I agree with all of your sentiments-- cynical forces are at work in some publishing quarters- but like the old Gershwin song, "They can't take that away from me!" for a lot of us-- the classic heroes will always have a place. Whether it be in reprints, vintage books or just our memories, t...

Re: Corgi Club confirms Batmobile reissue in 2024

They've been reissuing for a number of years, and the Bond Car has been very popular. They have well over two dozen re-releases in the Corgi Club-- and this is my kind of club--no membership dues and no obligations to buy anything-- you just get emails saying what's out. I've been buying quite a few...

Re: The Latest Batman Item You've Acquired?

Yeah me too-- the older the better. I just picked up a pair of Auburn Toys rubber Indian Motorcycle policemen, made sometime between 1936-1954. One of the best things about going to Japan is hitting up the thrift shops that sell stuff from the 60s- some real magic in there!

Re: The Latest Batman Item You've Acquired?

Major score! I loved all of the 70s banks-- just got a Galen and Dr Zauis with great colors. I don't think I ever saw any of the Mego Banks back in the day because I would have definitely wanted a Batman if I'd known about it. Amazing to think there was a time before the internet where we didn't kno...
