Re: '66 Newspaper Strip Collections by IDW
Some comics work as collections better than others. For instance, I think Dick Tracy holds up well collected, though I admit that strip is an acquired taste. I don't have either of these books yet, but I remember back in the 70s getting the All-Batman issue of "The Amazing World of DC Comics&qu...

Re: Dick Sprang's Bat Suit
Actually, the oval first appeared in World's Finest Comics #141, which beat Detective #327 to the stands by two weeks. (Batman doesn't have the oval on the cover, but he does in the story). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v328/Osgood39/Time%20Capsule/Time%20Capsule011/WF142aa_zps33f1f0b5.jpg Of co...

Re: Dick Sprang's Bat Suit
Yes, I could just as easily have adopted the screen name "SwanFan." Between Curt and Dick, the Silver Age World's Finest was one of my favorite comic runs of all time, and certainly served Batman better than all that Shelly Moldoff art over in his own title. Flipping through some old comic...

Re: Dick Sprang's Bat Suit
Actually, Chuck, that's a Curt Swan image. But an awesome one. I agree that except for the obligatory (by '66) yellow oval, Adam's costume most resembles the Dick Sprang version. In fact, while all other artists seemed to "agree" that Batman's cowl was attached to his cape and pulled forwa...

Re: Yvonne Craig - May 16, 1937 – August 17, 2015 :(
This is very depressing, and unexpected. Comics writer Mark Evanier has a great remembrance over at his site which I recommend: http://www.newsfromme.com/2015/08/19/yvonne-craig-r-i-p/ It's a little naughty at the end, but it's funny and I think it gives a great peek into what a fun person Yvonne wa...

Re: Tonner Yvonne Craig Batgirl Doll
I get that Tonner isn't all that concerned with likenesses as a general rule, but if you check their website, you can see they definitely made an effort to make their Batman and Catwoman dolls resemble Adam and Julie (with mixed results) so I think it's fair to ask why this one makes no attempt to r...

Re: Figures Toy Company Next waves?
And Lt Col Donald Penobscott on MASH, and Tarzan in the awesome "Tarzan and the Valley of Gold" (among others). But I wouldn't say it looks like him, either. It's more just a "generic handsome Caucasian male." It's one of those figures that relies entirely on costuming to sell th...

Re: Figures Toy Company Next waves?
The cowl is big but not as ridiculously big as the helmets for the Mego-style Galactica figures from a couple years back. If anything it's more off-putting that (1) the sculpt looks nothing like Adam and (2) never once did we see the character in costume with his cowl off. I'm not sure what the poin...

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: besides just the chapter title Batguitarist mentioned at the start of this thread, Uslan has a real potty mouth throughout. Word to the wise.

Re: The Boy Who Loved Batman (book) Long read
Resurrecting this thread because I'm finally reading the book, or trying to anyway. I'm less than 60 pages in and while there are some fun anecdotes, and stuff any kid who grew up loving comics can identify with, there are also enough errors (if not falsehoods) to keep derailing the reading experien...

Re: Figures Toy Company Next waves?
Not sure if anything is an ideal match for the Batcave, but the guys at Laser Mego have some fun seating options available, including a desk: http://www.lasermego.com/store Mego's figures are considered to be in 1/9 scale, I believe, so a search for 1/9 scale furniture might turn up something. For i...

Re: HOw many characthers were killed off ..or nearly so..?
In "A Death Worse Than Fate," the two mob hitmen in the sarcophagi appear to kill each other when our heroes duck out of the cross fire from their machine guns. We don't actually see them dead, but it's certainly implied. Bat man even makes an atypically callous quip about hauling them off...

Re: DC vs Marvel licensing article
Well, obviously Gernot, I know we're both Superman fans (from our days on the old Superman Through the Ages site, when I was "Nightwing"). I guess what I mean is Batman is the only character DC seems to have figured out how to market in the modern era; his books sell tons better than any o...
