Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

West was just past fifty. He'd done Legends of the Super-Heroes just prior, where he looked as fit as most of the late-20's aged guys . Nope! Yep! The show was terrible. But I thought Adam looked great. Could Van "addicted to mashed potatoes" Williams, 5 yrs younger than West ...

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

But it's really more the sound mind/sound body mantra. Most bodybuilders spend all their time in the gym, at the detriment of developing other parts of themselves. So an overly muscular man who is also tremendously smart is unusual. I'm surprised that stereotypes like this are still common. A bodyb...

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

Yeah, I'd say at the time Adam was in great shape. Heck, he still looked better than most 40 year olds when he was 80. The first photo may be photoshopped. I'm sure there's an expert here who can verify whether on not it's been manipulated. It wasn't. It's a publicity shot from "The Happy Hook...

Scrawny arms? :) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xNHNjLmUcLQ/TqRgTRcGKNI/AAAAAAAACCE/IY6ubLF4uuw/s1600/kilmershl.jpg Dan E Kool, admit it, you'd sell your soul to the devil to be in the shape he was in 1966! I sure would. Here, get schooled a little. http://gothamalleys.blogspot.com/2011/10/batmans-physic...

Re: Annoying words

"Vild" was ... wild! Love it. Chief O'Hara's "Begorrah!" ( "By God" in Irish slang) bugs the stuff out of me. Stafford Repp, was great in season 1 but was really milking it by season 2. It became very annoying. A decent director would have reeled him in. I'd have cut hi...

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

Here's West without the cape. An adult male in extremely good physical shape. No cut to a stunt double here.

Re: "Myths" Surrounding The Show

Another reason for it might be that he didn't have a superhero "muscleman" body, like you would see in comics, and people exaggerate that into "Adam was fat". Not many actors are built like comic-book superheroes, and I suspect the perception that the fans demanded MUSCULAR film...

Re: Was THE GREEN HORNET a Better Show than BATMAN?

Lennon just mentioned that his pre-Yoko wife and George Harrison's wife were enthralled with Simcox. :) You may feel he suffers head to head against Van Williams, possibly. But still, he cut quite the dashing figure! Van Williams was certainly a skilled actor, and although flawed, I do love the seri...

Re: Was THE GREEN HORNET a Better Show than BATMAN?

Overall, I find The Hornet series stiff. Dragnet in green. The Hornet & Kato have about as much chemistry as Professor Robinson & Major West in Lost In Space . ... not to mention Williams was visually perfect for the role as well (instead of dry, beat-up Simcox). Dry & beat up?! Yeah, h...

Re: Was THE GREEN HORNET a Better Show than BATMAN?

Overall, I find The Hornet series stiff. Dragnet in green. The Hornet & Kato have about as much chemistry as Professor Robinson & Major West in Lost In Space . And their dialogue is about as stilted. The show titles were absolutely terrible. "Bad Bet on a 459-Silent" -- "The F...

Re: Will Adam West be in the "Deaths of the Year" section of the Oscars?

It also has to do with how easily a suitable image and/or footage is available, and if it has clearance from the copyright owner and the actor's estate. Several times, in recent years, I have had frantic emails from the producers of Australian TV's annual Logie Awards. The footage they sought was s...

Re: Will Adam West be in the "Deaths of the Year" section of the Oscars?

...and in addition to the other films mentioned in this thread, he's still not considered a movie actor. Part of that is based on TV work being his greatest contribution to the medium. Its no disrespect on the part of the Academy at all. You've said " ...still not considered a movie actor"...

Re: "Boy Wonder: My Life in Tights"

All that aside, "MY LIFE IN TIGHTS" was more about "I hooked up with two young girls in Memphis" or wherever than actual interesting Batman lore or anything else. I lost a huge amount of respect for "Bert Gervis" after the book. He was obviously just piggy backing West'...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #85: "Batman '89" Turns our Heads

I think Robert Wuhl as Alexander Knox, was used because he was/is so damn ugly. By comparison, the newly face lifted, eye-brow enhanced, hair-transplanted, and bee stung lipped Keaton almost looked handsome. Certainly not Adam West handsome, but he looked okay. Wouldn't it have been simpler to just ...
