Re: Semple's Batman "bible": research problem
Somewhere around the house I have a copy of the February 2004 commemorative issue of Cinefantastique , which includes an episode guide, profiles of or interviews with many of the show's creators, and a reference to the Bat-Poop bible. I can't lay hand on the magazine just now, but I found the follow...

Re: Lame or Not?
In the 70s, I always loved comics reprints and revival stories featuring the Golden Age Sandman, who (as I later learned) swiped a lot of the Hornet's schtick back in the 30s, including the gas gun and green fedora. (The custom gas mask he made part of his disguise was a big part of his appeal to me...

Re: Can anyone ID this Superman item?
Thanks very much x2 for the help. The YouTube page didn't allow comments for me to ask there. Brett No problem. FWIW, I just figured out in the course of investigating this that I had to subscribe to Kenny's YouTube channel in order to comment on his videos. I don't think that's the case with all Y...

Re: Can anyone ID this Superman item?
Kenny Richardson, the guy who posted the video above, mentioned the piece in question at some length in a 2017 video that's still posted on his YouTube channel. He described it as a cardboard standup that has the same illustration printed on both sides and noted that "it looks like a Fathead bu...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #202: British Batmania: A Slow Burn
I guess "Batman" has a double meaning here, but I'm not quite getting the other one... I learned the alternate meaning in the dim pre-internet days (and before comics were included in legitimate library collections). When I tried looking up "Batman" in the index of any book or r...

Re: Bat Tours: The Bat-Roads
Hi, Scott and Ben, I've been watching those opening-drive segments with new appreciation ever since watching the Bat-Roads video, and I just took note of a sequence I hadn't noticed before. At the beginning of An Egg Grows in Gotham, the latter part of the credits appears over a sequence in which th...

Re: Mr. Preeze on Julia
Yep. The suit isn't Freeze's but the collar is. Julia was a Fox show, so that tracks. The episode reunites actor Ned Glass (Julia's neighbor Sol Cooper) with Phil Silvers. Glass played Sgt. Andy Pendleton on the old Phil Silvers Show (aka Sgt. Bilko) -- including an episode in which Silvers gets fit...

Re: Script: THE OGG COUPLE 3-parter
I know I'm jumping in very late on this, but I just rewatched The Ogg and I for the first time in ages, and I picked up on something potentially interesting relative to the script. Throughout the episodes, Anne Baxter peppers her dialog with Russian-tinged ad-libs that differ from Sherman's script. ...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs
The opening scene of The Ogg and I, in which Egghead and Olga kidnap Commissioner Gordon via hot-air balloon, reuses stock footage of a red-white-and-blue balloon previously seen in the Puzzler two-parter.

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs
Another random observation (and perhaps a case of accidental continuity): In the first Penguin two-parter, Penguin and his goons disguise themselves whenever they're in the midst of crimes (as opposed to merely plotting them). That generally means wearing Robin-style eyemasks, but in the scene in Th...

Re: Was the "Joker's Wild" prison escape from the comics?
I've read a lot of Joker stories from the comics, and while I'm sure I don't recall them all perfectly, I think I'd have picked up on any that included that spring-loaded pitcher's mound. There are also plenty of stories I haven't read, of course, but I suspect most of us comics fans here on the boa...

Re: Louis the “Li-LOCK” - anyone else, or just me?
It's a regional dialect, not a mispronunciation. Webster's gives three options: lie-lack, lie-lock and lie-lick. I've never heard the third one, but I moved around the northeast U.S. lot as a kid and heard the first two often. I settled on the first one in my own usage, but Berle's way of saying it ...
