Re: When were Adam and Burt on the Merv Griffin Show?

Thanks for the clip, Ben. Maybe the July '67 IMDB link I found was for a rerun, because the female guest Merv and our heroes are bantering with is indeed Gwen Verdon. She must've been plugging her appearance in Sweet Charity, since the "Charlie" tattoo the heroine sports in that play is o...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #194: Susan Silo: Mousey and much more!

It's been uploaded and should shortly filter through. On a podcast player, you will likely need to delete/archive the episode once and then un-archive it. If you see the note about the problem being fixed at the end of the episode blurb, you've got the corrected version!

TO THE BATPOLES #194: Susan Silo: Mousey and much more!

https://assets.libsyn.com/secure/show/65262/Susan-Silo.jpg You know her as Mousey in A Riddle a Day Keeps the Riddler Away , but did you know that Susan Silo has been a sought-after character voice actor for cartoons since the ‘70s? Or that she had a hit single in 1956 ("Dear Diary") and ...

Re: When were Adam and Burt on the Merv Griffin Show?

Ben, thanks! Gwen Verdon is not a name I'm familiar with... I did need to fire up my VPN.

Don't know what's going on with IMDB's listing for that date... https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11152670/?ref_=ttep_ep172

When were Adam and Burt on the Merv Griffin Show?

On TO THE BATPOLES I recently started including bits of the time Adam and Burt appeared on the Merv Griffin Show together. It's clearly just before the start of season two, because of the mention of Walter Slezak, Shelley Winters, etc coming up on the show. Various sources on the web show that the d...

Re: Any questions for SUSAN SILO?

Ben, interesting. Susan told us (as you'll hear next week) that Batman HAD premiered by the time RIDDLE was shot. Of course, as we know, memories of things that happened nearly 60 years ago are not always pristine; I'd be willing to accept hard evidence to the contrary.

TO THE BATPOLES #193: Batman - Star Trek ACT-OFF, pt. 1

https://assets.libsyn.com/secure/show/65262/Batman-StarTrekACTOFF01.jpg Two of the most iconic American TV shows of the 1960s are BATMAN and STAR TREK. A surprising number of actors appeared on both shows, either as regulars, recurring characters, or one-shot roles. This sounds like an interesting ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #192: Mercy alive! It’s Madge Blake!

Thanks Hornet! Yes, it does seem like Aunt Harriet came to be seen as unnecessary. I imagine most kids found her the least interesting character on the show; I don't think we paid all that much attention to her as kids, and for that matter we'd been doing this show for years before the idea of this ...

But here we’ve done nearly 200 episodes and mostly...
