They are indeed stunt doubles the entire time. That's one of the reasons the villains were invisible and then in the dark for the fight scene. It would be too noticeable. A shame really. But a good way to see the archvillains one last time before facing the horror of... a crooked spa owner.

My theory about that is since the cliffhanger wasn't a total death trap and Dozier's narration at the end of "Greatest Mother" was similar to the ones in Season 3, they were experimenting with different cliffhanger ideas since they were running out of decent deathtrap ideas at the time?
