Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs
Billionaire inventors as super-villains? Who would believe that? Ahem. Wile E. Coyote was the one I could never figure out. What a credit card debt he must have wracked up ordering all those shipments from ACME, Inc and he was still always on the verge of starvation because he couldn't catch the Roa...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs
Absolutely, to be fair Batman was no different than dozens of other shows of the era that relied on formula and in which -- thanks to episodes not always airing in production order -- it was impossible to manage things like "continuity" or "character development" even if they'd w...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs
I agree the shift to (lame) comedy hurt the show, but I think there were deeper and more fundamental problems with the core concept that guaranteed the show would always have a short life. Basically, except for a few superficial details, every episode is pretty much the same as every other one. If y...

GH serial coming to Blu-ray?
Thread title pretty much covers it. Apparently the original Green Hornet movie serial will be released on Blu-ray in April. Pretty sure I've never seen this one, though I'm a serial fan in general.

Re: 1/6 scale Bronze Age Batman by ArtFX
There's something unusual going on at the neck, there. It almost looks like it's a true "cowl" in the monk sense, with a drape at both sides of the neck so the upper part can be swept back over the forehead. Which I guess would be consistent with how we saw Bruce wear it in the Bronze Age ...

Re: 1/6 scale Bronze Age Batman by ArtFX
Spray-painted abs, pecs, etc are kind of fun in cosplay, but even then I have to take it as "Look, I came as a walking drawing" and not "Look, I'm Batman." Believing Bruce Wayne would choose to dress as a bat is a leap I'm willing to take, but the idea that he'd spend hours drawi...

Re: 1/6 scale Bronze Age Batman by ArtFX
I agree I'm not getting an Adams/Aparo/Novick vibe from this, but based on the color scheme and the ear length I guess it qualifies as a generic "Bronze Age" look. And yeah, the emblem is too big for the era. Another thing this points out is how poorly detailed musculature translates from ...

Re: Any idea where this circa 1966 Batman dining room/restaurant would have been?
It's a sad but familiar story. Having a Facebook page is so much easier than maintaining a blog, and it's easier for your audience too because they don't have to remember your URL and to come visit it regularly. If there's any new content, it just magically shows up on their "wall" (if tha...

Re: Any idea where this circa 1966 Batman dining room/restaurant would have been?
I want to say the Bat-Blog moved exclusively to Facebook, but as I don't have an account (or want one), I can't say if it still exists even in that form.
I agree it could be fun to read back in the day.

Re: Mego 50th Anniversary-- The Return!
If I'd had or wanted the Wayne Tower Playset that would have been different, but I seldom got into playsets-- I did have the Batcave and the Starship Enterprise Mego Bridge set though. The Enterprise bridge was conducive to play, with that brilliantly simple (simply briliant?) transporter gimmick. ...

Re: Mego 50th Anniversary-- The Return!
Batman still looked better than Captain America, with those bulging eyes. The only time I saw a real person with an expression like that was when a friend sat on his bike just as the seat fell off. Thinking a bit more about the "short" Hulk and Thing (in the comics), it does make sense in ...

I just realized the "Home" link is nonfunctional on that page. Brian is slowly relocating to a new site, so if you're interested in exploring it in more depth, this is where to start, these days: https://plaidstallions.com/reboot/

Re: Mego 50th Anniversary-- The Return!
As far as that goes, there never seemed to be consensus on how tall Ben was, either. Sometimes he looked shorter than Johnny and Reed, other times not. But judging by their Captain America and Tarzan figs (and that huge Mxy), I'm not convinced Mego was slavishly devoted to comic-accuracy. Anyway it ...
