Re: SCRIPT: "Hizzoner the Penguin"

When the three pollsters show up it feels like this episode jumps the shark. And they aren't even funny. And not to mention that once again the good citizens of Gotham City turn on Batman and Robin and embrace a criminal who has consistently cheated them in the past. I think that's what bothers me ...

Re: SCRIPT: "Hizzoner the Penguin"

Thanks as always for the peek behind the curtain. I think the real action here was in the treatment. For some context, I believe Dozier & Co. pushed this for an Emmy, hence all the Pengy for Mayor buttons. Maybe they bribed potential Emmy voters!! I went back and checked your ep No. 147 with She...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #181: Who was Reuben Watt?

To Sherman's credit, his original script had Batgirl going undercover and infiltrating Nora's operation.

I wish that plot point had stayed. It gave BG more agency.

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #181: Who was Reuben Watt?

Great stuff. In terms of Watt, I suspect he wasn't on imdb because he was not listed on the end credits themselves. Also, he usually was listed second behind the credited assistant director on the call sheets, e.g., 'STEVE BERNHARDT/REUBEN WATT' on Ring Around The Riddler. His role was quite importa...

This gives a little more info. It sounds like two guys discussing it:

I had suggested This Is Joan Collins, which features five whole seconds of '66 Bat-related footage, but I grudgingly intend to be there anyway. ;)

Re: Eartha Kitt documentary short

Jim, thanks for sharing. Very interesting and cleverly done. It gave some missing context to the incident. Oops, they typed her name as Ms. Eartha Kitt on the White House invitation. Back in 1968 they would have used Miss. Excellent catch, dell. That's often a problem with these docs--historical ina...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #180: “The Thirteenth Hat” Scripts: Kidnap the Jurors Already!

Excellent breakdown of all the scripts. As always, it's fun to 'see' the creative process in progress so many years ago. I know you don't want to 'play the hits' like some aging hair-metal band on tour, but I was kind of hoping to hear a rendition of 'Na-na-na-na-na-na-Lawsuit!' My biggest script ta...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #177: Stanford Sherman’s Marsha: “Rewriting the fool thing”

Guys, I know it's too late for the show the comments appeared on, but if you find yourself needing some material at the end of a future show...I also have a post that was too late to make the cut on the Marsha podcast prior to this one. I agree with Paul that Carolyn Jones' performance is very good ...

I would say there were 'fringe benefits,' such as the 'scenery,' when working for a female villain.

It was unclear which arch-villain had the best comprehensive dental plan and 401(k) package.

Re: Adam West on Celebrity Bowling

I heard one of the commentators say something about Mayor Linseed and Wayne Manor during the game. The guy who made the comment was referring to himself as well as to Adam: Celebrity Bowling host Byron Keith played Mayor Linseed on Batman. Adam's non-acknowledgment of the remark, and absence of oth...
