Re: Bat Western Name That Episode

Right, Repp was indeed on that episode of Bonanza. Bat-actor appearances in Westerns were plentiful, so just being on screen in Western garb didn't necessarily grab my attention unless it was Cliff Robertson or Dina Merrill. Adam was in an episode of Alias Smith and Jones that also didn't yield any ...

Re: No excuses

Gosh, they had so many obscure reasons, but I'm drawing a blank beyond the standard fishing excuse. Wherever they needed to be, of course, it involved a detour through the study (from which they never emerge - yeah, nothing suspicious there). You can tell they did a good job with these because Bruce...

Re: If not Astin, then who?

The anniversary story was always and necessarily conceived as a Riddler story. It had its roots in the comics and was, as is typical of Riddler stories, strongly plotted. For these reasons and Astin's acting choice to avoid imitating Frank Gorshin's portrayal, I consider this a very strong set of e...

Re: If not Astin, then who?

Commander Straker of "UFO" or Klaus Hergesheimer ("G Section. Checking radiation shields.") in "Diamonds Are Forever" never came off as villain material to me (those being Bishop's most famous live action roles). But I'd note that he was an expatriate who spent his ent...

Re: If not Astin, then who?

Gorshin acknowledged that he drew some of his Riddler characterization from Richard Widmark's psychotic, wheel-chair rolling Tommy Udo in Kiss of Death. Googling for Richard Widmark-like actors, I came up with Ed Bishop. He's best remembered as the lead voice in Gerry Anderson's Captain Scarlet and ...

Re: Bat Western Name That Episode

Here's the answers on the remaining photos: Adam West and Dina (Calamity Jan) Merrill in "Desilu Playhouse: Murder is a Private Affair" (to date, the lone Adam West project with a Desi Arnaz introduction to help set the stage) "Robert Taylor’s The Detectives: Tobey’s Place" The e...

Re: A Question of Degrees

Ultimately, as much as I love the show, it all boils down to one gimmick: what happens if you bring a comic book to life, warts and all? Once you've done it, though, you know. And once you get over the initial amusement and giddy rush of "hey, this is just like a comic book!" then you can...

Re: Did Any of the Villains Scare You?

The one I can recall is the Riddler, who really did seem unbalanced One of the last shots of the pilot was the Riddler and his gang surrounding the inert Robin. Unlike the majority of henchmen that just dutifully wore the team colors, the goons in that episode were each unique and seemed like partic...

That's what I call multiple claims to fame!

Not many Bat-stars appeared in projects that matched the critical acclaim of Godfather II

Re: Bat Western Name That Episode

Shemp is correct about Outlaws Is Coming and Ms. Starr (RIP). The Three Stooges owed their 1960's resurgence to kiddy-TV hosts who gave their old film shorts lots of airplay. As a thank you, Outlaws is Coming had Ms. Starr and a whole gang of her counterparts from other big TV markets. High C is rig...

Re: Bat Western Name That Episode

Can't get them all, but at least one Nancy Kovack shot is from 'The Wild Westerners.' The name on the 'lobby sign' gives that away. And without looking anything up, the shots of Yvonne dancing are from an ep of The Wild Wild West in which she played a female assassin named Ecstasy La Joie. Correct,...

Bat Western Name That Episode

Here's the latest chapter of my western tale of Bat-tribution - tracing Batman's decades-long hunt for his parents' killer. Angel and the Batman The plot was all dictated by available stills of Bat-actors sharing a scene (one exception features two actors who did numerous scenes with Adam West, but ...

Re: Original Wail of the Siren concept/story outline

[quote="High C"]You make a good point about how the brief Siren/Riddler teamup may have negated the mysterious, otherworldly element of the original Siren concept. The original Ring Around the Riddler outline, dated June 21, 1967 does include the Siren cameo, btw. However, to piggyback on ...

Re: Original Wail of the Siren concept/story outline

I guess the big question with regards to the draft is whether they didn't like that take or using the Siren in the Riddler episode what forced them to junk all the mystery aspects. The followup question is whether both episodes would have automatically improved by keeping the two villains restricted...

Re: Who would you pick to play Poison Ivy?

In 1967, Barbara was still a total unknown getting her first TV guest shots in a couple Universal shows. The next year she got her first major break in the Don Knotts comedy and had another high profile role in one other movie that year so that come 69 or 70 she would have had just enough previous ...
