Re: Where is Gotham City
That makes more sense than "Smallville" putting Metropolis in Kansas!

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #110: "The Impossible Crimes": Semple holds Stadd’s Feet to the Fire
And to add to my point about how the characters of Miss Alliance and Daphne should have been combined so that Miss Alliance could turn on Joker and then help tip Batman off as to where to nab him, this would also have taken care of the problem of the too-short tag since it could have given us a comm...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #110: "The Impossible Crimes": Semple holds Stadd’s Feet to the Fire
Well I enjoyed listening! Thanks first for pointing out that the deathtrap from the Penguin episode wasn't the only item from this script that Semple likely lifted (the point that made it into the Joker episode with Donna Loren later on). That kind of puts Semple's adamant rejection of the script in...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #110: "The Impossible Crimes": Semple holds Stadd’s Feet to the Fire
Before I dive into the podcast, I looked over Semple's memo and honestly I can't disagree with the bulk of his criticisms because I do find that they echo a lot of the things I found wrong with the script in terms of execution (the pointless red herrings at the beginning, the absurdity of Alfred as ...

Re: Where is Gotham City
Except that in Part 2 of the Joker/Donna Loren episode when the power goes out, Joker says, "Gotham City must be having a blackout just like New York!" Also there are a couple episodes where the establishing stock footage of Gotham City isn't New York but Boston!

Re: Courtroom scenes and other bat-law questions
Maybe *that's* why these criminals always get such light sentences, since Batman and Robin can never testify openly in court against them! (and thus they plea bargain out to light sentences and get out very quickly in time for another episode)

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs
Do we know if the replacement of Riddle with May a case of deciding a new sound was needed for Season 3 in terms of the format or a case of Riddle "moving on" and necessitating the replacement? Riddle I know spent the bulk of the 67-68 season doing all the scores for the Ron Ely "Tarz...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs
Given Berle's early TV history fame, they should have made him the first Bat villain to try and escape dressed like a henchmoll!

To which I can only concur. That post is out of line and despicable and you Mr. "Limpet" should be ashamed of yourself.

Re: Script: THE SECRET OF THE IMPOSSIBLE CRIMES, by Leonard Stadd
It might have been Stadd's misfortune that this was an early script submitted where the things that would stand out as really bad for a show trying to set a tone probably led to it being rejected. (The stupid use of voiceovers, the fact that Gordon comes off looking bad with his "you're Batman!...

Re: "Batman Encounters King Kong" (June 1966)
Bruce Cabot of course was in the original "Kong" as Jack Driscoll. I just can't imagine how the heck they were going to pull that off because at the time if someone wanted to do *anything* Kong related, you needed to get permission from RKO-General the heirs to the original RKO Studio that...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs
Just an awful episode all around. Berle's delivery is so bored and low-key that it just screams, "I'm showing up for my paycheck to burn off the commitment to ABC after they cancelled my variety show!" Now comes Filler Time! Filler Scene #1. Mister Freeze ends up being the second villain i...

Re: Courtroom scenes and other bat-law questions
Well the problem is unless that's done in the presence of a bunko operative, there'd be no evidence at this point. Even assuming the effect of Siren's note wore off, if questioned later, Bruce would have to say "I don't remember" when asked if he was forced to sign anything over against hi...

Re: Courtroom scenes and other bat-law questions
Addendum to Batman/Alfred perhaps breaking the law with fake legal documents in Marsha. Is Gordon also by approving of this compounding a crime? :) In the Londinium trilogy, isn't Gordon unlawfully taking charge of an investigation out of his jurisdiction? And High C's mention about Cataphrenic rais...
