Re: Leslie Gore Interview

This show was broadcast on January 24, 1967 (with West Coast markets showing it a week later), the day before the conclusion of that Catwoman episode:

Re: Happy Birthday, Burt Ward!

A quote from Robin in part two (Deep Freeze) of the Otto Preminger eps:

"I'm not gonna be young all my life, Batman, and besides beauty contests are practically an American institution."

Re: SCRIPT: KING TUT'S COUP, a.k.a. TUT TUT TUT

A few minor observations on the Lord Chancellor and Jester characters (Lloyd Haynes and Tim O'Kelly): I never could quite figure out if they were suffering the same malady as King Tut throughout the episode, or if they came to their senses and tried to take advantage of the situation (they were cer...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #113: Tying Ourselves in Knots: Nora Clavicle Reconsidered (with “Twof”!)

Gordon mentioned his "wife" in the second part (halfway through) of the Marsha appearance in November 1966. It came in a conversation in his office with O'Hara (who had been freed from Marsha's cages) and Alfred. "Well, being a wife, I'm sure she wonders about my temporary absence, bo...

A nice piece of real estate

Not that any of us can afford this place, but it's described as having "Batcave-like security." No indication if any Nilanium lies underneath. ;) Interestingly, the home was once owned by producer Richard Zanuck. In 1966, his girlfriend (and later wife) Linda Harrison, played one of the ch...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #112: Court BAT-tles: The Law on the '66 Show

Its odd that a series that set out to have Batman be so "up" on just about every law known to mankind would eventually be portrayed as being legally inept in certain episodes. I'm nut sure If that was done for humor (not that average audience member would be able to identify holes in Batm...

Re: Favorite Catwoman Actress?

I would have been shocked if it was anyone but Julie. The other two were fine, but most people's perception of each is, "Oh yeah, she replaced Julie."

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs

Dept. of Too Much Time on My Hands: I was curious about some of the background material on the wall of Joker's hideout in his robot/bank caper, which upon closer inspection has quite an eclectic bent. The first photo (in the upper right corner) references Charles Morgan's short 1941 novel, "The...

Re: Things you didn't notice or remember until seeing the DVDs

I had to have the DVD to notice this one, because I had to freeze the picture and then advance it a frame at a time to make it out: In "Enter Batgirl, Exit Penguin," the front of the Gotham City Times that contains Penguin's engagement announcement is barely visible for a split second, bu...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #109: Louie the Lilac baffles, Bat-conference informs

Eisner has suggested that his appearances were due partly to burning off an ABC contract. I don't know if there exists any documentation for that. In any event, I suspect the filler had to do with the fact they wanted to limit Berle's screen time because he was known to blow takes and the schedules...

Re: Courtroom scenes and other bat-law questions

*In the first Mad Hatter, the source of his animus toward Batman was because the Caped Crusader had testified against him. *In the Joker robot/bank ep, (presumed) legal steps are taken to commit Bruce to a mental hospital because he appointed Joker bank president. *In the Catwoman college episode, C...

Re: April 1966 article on Frank Gorshin

Great detective work by Dr. Shimel and epaddon. Again, it's interesting to see how Gorshin was approaching the role. Despite his amount of guest-star appearances by then, he still had the reputation of being an impressionist before anything else. Note how, in this memo that Oscar Lilley passed alon...

April 1966 article on Frank Gorshin

Interesting article about how Gorshin got on Dozier's radar and how Frank saw the character and the financial impact connected to his taking the role:
