Re: Liberace Ratings Myth

Thank you for posting that scan from Broadcasting . I think that proves conclusively that it was not the highest rated or most viewed episode. I'm sure one of the first season shows would get that honor. Are the issues of Broadcasting from that period available on-line? The Media History Digital Lib...

Re: ABC Network Summer Reruns and Bumper Mystery

I don't remember that bumper but if it exists, it would probably be on The Dead Ringers.

Re: ABC Network Summer Reruns and Bumper Mystery

My guess is the summer repeats were based on ratings and how well the shows did the first time around. That would explain the Archer episode as many people probably tuned in for the season premiere. Egghead had Vincent Price as a lure and the 3-parters must have done well. As I mentioned in the Libe...

Re: ABC Network Summer Reruns and Bumper Mystery

Also interesting to note the only pre-emption during the prime time run was on February 15, 1968 for the Winter Olympics. ABC had announced its cancellation just a few weeks earlier on January 24.

Re: Batman TV series DVD set in 2014!!

To those that are wondering why some of the next week bumpers are not on the correct episodes as originally broadcast, I did some research and compiled a list of the 1966 and 1967 ABC summer reruns. They struck new 35mm prints for the network reruns and the bumpers were changed on the original 35mm ...

Re: ABC Network Summer Reruns

If anyone is interested, I used primarily the Milwaukee Journal and Chicago Tribune as sources for the research. Both can be searched on-line for free. I had to use both because there were some weeks when they did not list a title or synopsis.

Re: Liberace Ratings Myth

Thank you very much for the replies.

I can tell you that the View-Master images taken on the set were done with a specially designed dual-35mm camera rig, similar to the popular stereo cameras from the 1950's. Here's an article from an internal View-Master publication.

ABC Network Summer Reruns and Bumper Mystery

For the 1966/1967 summer reruns on ABC, the shows were not broadcast in the same order as when first aired so many of the "next week" bumpers were changed. I thought it would be helpful to compile a complete list. I can tell you that the one 35mm camera negative I personally handled for TH...

Liberace Ratings Myth

I've read for years that the Liberace appearance was the highest-rated episode of the entire series. I just looked through the industry trades trying to get some confirmation on this statement with no success. In fact, according to this excellent article, not a single episode from the second season ...

Re: Why Julie Didn't Do the Feature

Her Monkees appearance is mentioned in Variety on January 27, 1967. It's not clear if that's when the contract was signed or when it began filming.

The Star Trek appearance is mentioned on May 22, 1967.

Re: Why Julie Didn't Do the Feature

Thanks, another myth bites the dust!

Julie began shooting in Oregon for MacKenna's Gold on May 16, 1967 and filming of the third season commenced on July 5, 1967.

Eartha Kitt was announced for the show on June 14, 1967.

Why Julie Didn't Do the Feature

For years I've heard the reason that Julie didn't do the movie was because of a prior commitment for another film. Check out this mention in Variety. What do you think? I've checked her schedule for that period in May/June 1966 and she also pulled out of a film called "Don't Make Waves" wi...

Batman Meets the King of the Kooks!

Batman meets the King of the Kooks! The first celebrity window cameo was filmed circa Wednesday, April 6 and aired April 20, 1966. In exchange, Adam and Burt filmed a special segment for the Jerry Lewis Holiday Telethon, airing September 4. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u235/BobFurmanek/Batman-...
