Re: BAT 77 - A Victim's Victim (Detective #394)

I agree with you guys. As much as I love the Bronze Age, I'm often turned off by the sermonizing. I thought the otherwise excellent "Ghost of the Killer Skies" was took down a few notches by O'Neil sticking in a couple of political statements. Mike Friedrich was the worst about sermonizing...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #119: Eureka! Is “Mummy’s Uncle” our favorite Season Three episode?

This is one of my favorite season three episodes, along with Wail of the Siren and the two-part Shame episode. It may be my favorite King Tut episode. Love the Dynamic Duo trying to catch Tut and keep their identities at the same time. Buono is great when he finds the Bat-Dummy, a nice throw back to...

Re: BAT 77 - A Victim's Victim (Detective #394)

I have, and that will be on next week's podcast. I'm about three episodes ahead on the recording schedule and will next be reading "This Murder Has Been ... Pre-Recorded!" and plan to have a guest on to discuss the issue. Thanks - JB That's a good one, although Batman has trouble fighting...

Re: BAT 77 - A Victim's Victim (Detective #394)

I listened at work this morning. Just a word of warning....Batman gets hit on the head from behind a pretty good bit in the bronze age! Keep in mind, back then writers had to come up with four or five ideas a month, unlike today when they can come up with one idea and stretch it out for four or five...

Re: BAT 77 - One Bullet Too Many (Batman #217)

Adams was already drawing a darker Batman in Brave & the Bold. One reason I hate that he "updated" his art for his collections is it deprives modern readers the opportunity to see how his Batman developed in B&B. It was good training for him, as his Batman continued to improve, and...

Re: When did you first see the show?

I first saw it in reruns in 1976, when I was five. I was very eager to learn to read, so I could follow Batman's comic book adventures. I think the first Batman comic I ever got was Batman 283, which had a January 1977 cover date, but was released in October 1976. I also had the Super Heroes vs Supe...

Wonderful actress and wonderful Catwoman. Hope she is happy and healthy. I don't think anyone will ever match Ms. Newmar as Catwoman.

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #118: "Flash Gordon": Lorenzo Goes to Space Camp

Did any of the interviews mention if Mr. Semple stayed on set for re-writes of Flash Gordon? I know from interviews on the blu-ray of Never Say Never Again that several hands worked on the script to it uncredited after Semple. Those other hands are probably a part of the reason that movie was such a...

Re: BAT 77 - One Bullet Too Many (Batman #217)

Thanks for the listen, JB. As for Batman's coloring, I think that may have been due to the limited printing options of the time. Batman was originally supposed to be black with blue highlights. Spider-Man was originally supposed to be black and red. As you get into the 70s, you'll probably notice th...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #117: Ross' Final Shame

OK, guys, I'm going to be honest. This is one of the Stanley Ralph Ross scripts that I enjoyed. Ross wrote my three favorite third season stories, this one, the last King Tut, and Wail of the Siren, which I think most people consider the best episode of Season Three. First off, I found the mother-in...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #116: Victor Buono: Holy Ad-Libbed Comedy!

This was probably the most informative show you guys have done yet. Kudos. I liked how you went through all the treatments and scripts at one time. Very educational. Really, I don't have a lot to add myself, but I think the series missed out by not having the henchman cause the Professor to revert t...

Re: The Latest Batman Item You've Acquired?

I agree on the costume. That statue, the Burnside years as created and drawn by Babs Tarr, is clearly inspired by the TV show Batgirl. I was an instant fan of it. I’m about a year behind and didn’t realize they’d changed her outfit. Too bad. I think Tarr’s version is much better. For me, Batgirl ju...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #115: Two Batman Parodies

Batwinged Hornet, Thanks for sharing the Cracked magazine feature. I have never read that. I really enjoyed the podcast, guys. I read the Mad magazine parody in 1989. I found Robin trying to off Batman so he can hook up with ladies to be a hilarious idea, since Burt's Robin stated, "You were ta...

Re: BAT 77 Episode #17 - Legends of Yesteryear

I remember being SORELY disappointed with these when they aired. The Superman movie and Wonder Woman and Hulk shows, whatever failing they may have had, presented their heroes earnestly. Now, the less said about the Spider-Man TV show, the better. Well, it did have an awesome theme. Obviously, I don...

Diamond Select Batgirl statue. Not necessarily that big a fan of the outfit (much better than the one she's wearing now, though) but it is a good action pose and looks better in hand. I just can't seem to resist any statue of Batgirl, though.
