Re: 1968 Cartoon- What's taking so long!?!?!?!?

If I recall correctly, all of the Filmation/DC product rights reverted to DC. This is why they were combined with Super Friends elements to form a Superman/Batman Adventures package that aired on USA in the early 90s and later Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Similarly, Shazam! is controlled by Warner...

Re: 1968 Cartoon- What's taking so long!?!?!?!?

The 1968 Batman, the second season of Superman, and the Superboy cartoons have not been released commercially yet, although someone snuck in a bumper for the Superboy cartoons on the first Superman set. As for the condition of the masters, it appears that in the 90s when the Batman cartoons were edi...

Passing of "Dr. Mabouse" Larry D. Mann

The AP is reporting the passing of Larry D. Mann, who plated Dr. Mabouse on the "Invasion from Outer Space" two parter: From the Associated Press Larry D. Mann, who voiced Yukon Cornelius in the animated Christmas favorite "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," has died. He was 91. Hi...

Re: 60's vs. 90's films

I think many of you have hit the nail on the head. The need to introduce the origins of the psychologically complex versions of the villains to movie audiences in the 90s (plus origins for Robin and Batgirl) made these movies wall to wall claustrophobic. With the exception of Batgirl in 1967, origin...

Homemade Movies Batman theme (Links)

Thanks to tomztoyz' Batblog, I came across this hilarious salute to the opening Batman credit sequence. I loved the video made with the Mattel action figures, but this has a great charm to it, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaizI9eBxp4#t=47 While this may seen like a low-rent homage, I love the...

Re: The ME-TV BATMAN Episode Discussion Thread

I noticed that the music played during the chase scene to the BatCave was recycled from the pilot. Evidently, it did not bother anyone that the Riddler's motif was being played while the Joker was on-camera. Also, the continuity police were asleep as Bruce Wayne never acknowledges Mr. Whiteface as t...

Re: Batman from comic book to TV

Honestly, I had no idea when I suggested a collection above, but look what DC is publishing in January (from their solicitations on newsarama.com): BATMAN ‘66: THE TV STORIES TP Written by BILL FINGER, GARDNER FOX, JOHN BROOME and others Art by BOB KANE, DICK SPRANG, SHELDON MOLDOFF, CARMINE INFANTI...

Re: Batman from comic book to TV

With a comic book adapting the show in publication, it would be a great time for DC to collect these stories in a trade paperback utilizing the Batman 66 logo. They tried a similar project when Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman was running in the 90s.

Re: The ME-TV BATMAN Episode Discussion Thread

I like the Zodiac Crimes, but I thought it was padded in places. Since it had two writers, I wonder if maybe it started out as a two-part Joker story and was padded out into three parts to accommodate Penguin, especially since he isn’t in the second episode. Does anyone know? I’m sure the plot poin...

Re: Surf's Up Episode

And what is meant by "undine?" John Undine was in reference to the character so named and played by the lovely Sivi Aberg, who was making her second appearance as a villain's moll. She had previously been one of Chandell/Harry's girls in the Liberace episodes. Skip Ward, who played one of...

Re: Most fun batfight?

Lately, I've been having fun pausing my recorded episodes and noticing how some of the fight scenes included more henchmen than we saw in the rest of the episode. The cuts are so quick, compounded by the added special effects, that it was unnoticable to me when I watched the shows growing up. As for...
