Re: Addams Family actors on Batman question

I thought Carolyn Jones was very good in her first appearance as Marsha, and John Astin, while not able to convey the menace of Gorshin's Riddler, did a fun take on the character. Without the incredibly unexciting cake death trap it could've been a very good episode. And it's sort of nice having Ast...

Re: Rest in Peace Lorenzo Semple Jr

Flash Gordon(1980) bombed in the theater, but I noticed it picking up a cult following over the years, and now has a good reputation. I always thought it was great. 4 stars and 81% at Rotten Tomatoes is a bit of a coup. Consider Batman(1966) gets 4 stars & 79% while Batman(1989) gets 3 and a hal...

Re: Why wasn't there more Backstory for Dick/Robin?

I generally agree with what Sol said. Dozier had no interest in developing the characters. Really all that was mentioned of Bruce's background, is that his parents were killed by 'dastardly criminals'. And this was in the first 5 minutes of the pilot. Semple's 'Batman bible' for the show may had had...

Re: What did the show invent that wasn't in the comics?

The series invented Mr. Freeze. He was of course based on Bob Kane's Mr. Zero, but he was changed to "Freeze" in the comics because of the show. The show also greatly affected The Clock King and Mad Hatter characters. And it catapulted 'The Riddler' from a throw-away 2nd string villain to ...

Re: Star Quest Robin

I have always been somewhat baffled about why Burt Ward, who claims to have been offered the lead in "The Graduate", was never in a post-Batman movie where he was billed above 10th! Usually below "Cop #1". He came across quite well in this clip. I've read that he played an unname...

Re: Rest in Peace Lorenzo Semple Jr

Sad. But he had a long, and apparently good life. And to a big extent he WAS the Batman TV series. If he'd continued writing it, the show might've lasted years longer. His scripts were the always top notch.

That is fantastic! And a great shot. Wish I could have seen him then. If you have any more please post them!

Re: Help Getting Info on an Actor

Interesting! The last credit I could find for him was 'The Boston Strangler' with Tony Curtis (who should've been on Batman) in 1968. After his Batman appearance. But according to IMBD he was born in 1934 & still alive. He must have stop acting in the U.S. after 'Boston Strangler'. Hey, love you...

Re: Evil Catwoman vs. Lovesick Catwoman

For me, a 100% evil CW would be 100% boring. She's multifaceted. Adam West described Julie Nemar as 'mercural'. Why not Catwoman? Well...Adam, in the A&E Bio. called her "out there." More accurate definition of Julie herself. The Catwoman character being "mercurial," maybe. ...

Re: A possible fourth season of Batman.

You could use the male villain Copperhead instead. In this issue, Batgirl & Wonder Woman pretend to fall in love with Batman, but end up falling in love with him for real. With some subtle changes, (Julie) Catwoman could be substituted for Wonder Woman. And in the comic Batman is 'bitten' by Cop...

Re: Rating the Bat-Traps

Great topic RF! The Joker's 'chimney of gas' was the most clever. Catwoman's, 'deafen Batman into a mindless zombie', Pengy's, 'burn Bruce Wayne' to death' and tut's 'drown Batman in a sarcophagus' were, in that order, the most evil. Chandel's, 'player piano rolls' was the most lame, but there are t...

Re: Why a Serious Green Hornet?

Eventually, towards the very end of the programmes run, Trendle relented and the terrible 'Invasion From Outer Space' 2 parter was produced. I know what you are saying, but those episodes reminded me of 'Lost In Space' or 'Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea'. Shows that got good ratings. In 1967...

Re: Evil Catwoman vs. Lovesick Catwoman

At the end of "The Bat's Kow Tow" Catwoman surrenders since she can't shoot Batman because of how she feels about him. As Batman leads her away to prison they walk by Robin who proclaims "Holy Mush!". I couldn't agree more! She was far from 100% evil in that scene. At best she w...

Adam West on Fantasy Island

This turned up on youtube. It's one of two Fantasy Island episodes Adam West appeared on. I remember being tremendously excited to see him as a kid!
